Each year, Volunteers in the Garden, or VIGs as they are affectionately known, help make the Garden as lively as it is.    In 2023, the Garden counted on 663 volunteers, who served more than 49,000 hours together.  Volunteers range in age, from 14 to 94 years-old. Share Tweet Share On March 22, Desert Botanical Garden and Spaces of Opportunity hosted Fund the Farm Celebration with more than 500 guests in attendance to raise funds for Spaces of Opportunity. Guests enjoyed local drinks and bites from some of the Valley’s best caterers and enjoyed musical entertainment by Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra. The event helped raised more than $45,000 for Spaces of Opportunity. Guests financial support will directly fund the farmers, gardeners and growers who care for and tend the land at Spaces. TOWARD 2050, organized by Valley-based textile artist Ann Morton, is an exhibition that invites guests to create hand-made artwork reflecting their perspective on the environment. Organizing the event is a monumental task with preparations that are ongoing throughout the year. The fundraising sale has become one of the Garden’s biggest undertakings — attracting some 6,000 shoppers in the spring and fall and boasting more than 30,000 plants in inventory.
