As we commemorate another Earth Day, we should consider Earth’s future. Sometimes, environmentalists make it seem like it’s all gloom and doom for the Earth. However, just the opposite is true. Earth has a brighter future than is being propagated. The planet has a makeover in its future! Mankind has not always been kind to this planet but there is hope. It is true, that we have misused Earth’s resources. It’s true, we’re reaping the results of industrial pollution in the atmosphere, dumping in the oceans and on land. It’s true, we have neglected this planet. It is true, we were given this Eart ..read more

Advocating Freedom

As we celebrate Black History Month, I can’t help but think about those who fought for freedom and equality; those who spent their lives advocating freedom. I think of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Martin Luther King, Paul Bogle of Jamaica, Desmond Tutu of South Africa, and countless others who sought a better world of justice and equity. It is no doubt that the Creator guided these leaders. Some of the things they accomplished were without doubt direct interventions from the Almighty. What’s even more evident of Providence guiding these freedom fighters, is their acknowledegment of Him whe ..read more

A Disturber of Public Peace?

Jesus? A disturber of public peace? It hit me as I pondered lines from one of my poems and latest release. “He was proclaimed a disturber of public peace,” the line reads. Why did I include that? I thought. Is that even valid? I almost panicked because the poem was set to music and due for official release the next day. “Isn’t Jesus the Prince of Peace?” I thought as I did a quick online search. Didn’t He say, “Blessed are the peacemakers?” I literally breathed a sigh of relief as I saw several hits in response to my search. “Jesus, a disturber of public peace.” I read through the many search ..read more

Social Media Dilemma

Free music download at the end of this post. Recently I have become even more dissatisfied with social media. First of all, I really don’t have time to post all the time, and the real benefit goes to the owners of the platforms. The onset of the algorithm to each platform changes everything and serious creators who are also entrepreneurs have to promote their posts to get engagement. I can understand that somewhat, but it’s a very unfair advantage for creators. Sure, I’ve made a few connections and sales on social media but I find that creating posts frequently is really a time thief. Yes, I h ..read more

I recently thought about quitting social media and it’s not the first time. Perhaps you have thought about quitting too or perhaps you’re having so much fun and making so much gains that you think it’s an asset. I on the other hand have all my accounts set up as business accounts and there’s the frustration of realizing social media platforms do not push your content as much when your account is a business one for the simple fact that they want you to pay to promote your content. I’ve addressed these factors and more in my blog post, “Social Media: To Quit or Not to Quit.” There are also other ..read more

Social Media: To Quit or Not to Quit

Have you ever thought about quitting social media? Well, I have. The main reason is I just don’t have the time I would like to post frequently and so I feel a bit of pressure. Pressure interrupts creativity. Creativity takes focus and uninterrupted flow whenever inspiration hits. Social media requires frequent updates and being a busy working mom, I find that I just don’t have the time. Yes, everywhere you read that social media is necessary to drive traffic to your blog, but I have researched and found other creatives who feel like social media robs them of time they could be using to create ..read more
