Welcome to another year’s Tora Con recap! This year’s convention was held on March 23/24. Unfortunately right between two warm weeks. So, as usual it was snowy going for us attendees, nothing new there. The weekend started out with a blizzard as we were driving to the con, luckily it didn’t follow us the whole way there, and we finally arrived around 11am. This year the con schedule was on Guidebook which was nice because I did not have to carry around any paper, and we could easily see the panels, maps, descriptions, and announcements right from the same place on our phones. So, I had a loose ..read more

Recreating My Cringe Coords: Sugary Carnival

If you read my blog regularly, you know I used to own a really awful, crunchy replica of Angelic Pretty’s Sugary Carnival skirt in black. I wore one coord with that replica, to an anime convention in 2014. I bought the Dream of Lolita branded replica skirt in 2013 from a lolita on Tumblr of all places. The skirt came with a detachable waist bow and matching head bow. These days, I have a legitimate Sugary Carnival JSK in black and I wanted to recreate that coord from 2014. So let’s get into it, recreating my cringe coords: Sugary Carnival 2014 floordinate My original floordinate consisted of t ..read more

Two blog posts in one month!? She’s crazy! This past weekend I hosted my third Galentine’s Tea Party at my home. This year’s party was extra special because a couple of months ago, I received a beautiful tea service for six from my Aunt for Christmas! This was a very unexpected gift and has given me the motivation to have more tea parties. So let’s talk about my event. The menu: For my tea party this year I wanted to do things a little different from how I’ve done them in the past and offer new foods. The menu consisted of~~~ Cucumber tea sandwiches Smoked salmon crostini Onion gruyere puff pa ..read more

NYC Trip + Sushidelic Review

Wow, long time no post. I have honestly not had the executive function to post for a while now, I’m sorry. I have a couple posts that need to be finished and retroactively posted to December and January, and ultimately I have decided to forgo posting my wardrobe this year as it’s just too big of an undertaking and I am not in the mental headspace to take that on. However, I did visit NYC for a friend’s birthday at Sebastian Masuda’s newest restaurant, Sushidelic earlier this month and I would love to talk about my experience, so without further ado, a blog post: The weather for this particular ..read more

Spooky Swap Meet Recap

At the end of October I hosted a swap meet with my comm and the neighboring Buffalo comm. We were super fortunate to get this corporate space for free thanks to Joanna and her husband. We all showed up at 1pm to set up our things to sell as well as the treats we brought to share with everyone. I didn’t have a lot of stuff to sell personally. But I am doing a big downsizing on accessories. Since most of them are off brand or just small Taobao items, I was giving things away for $1 each with larger pieces priced accordingly. I also happened to receive our comm group order a few days before, so I ..read more

Every year I discuss my goals for lolita fashion. In 2023 I had a few goals which I talked about here. But let’s revisit those goals and see what I did and did not meet: Sell more Buy nothing Get into shape Go to a meet with my sister near her home Visit AP San Francisco I can confidently say I failed in several of these.  I sold very little in 2023, I have been and still am in the process of culling my accessories and jewelry but I have not actually sold much. I have several things to put on LM but it’s such a hassle. I did not buy nothing. I bought several things, however I did reel in my s ..read more

This year I wore lolita 15 times. That’s three more than last year. Let’s take a look back at this years coords and see which one is my favorite for 2023. Winter During the winter months I wore lolita three times. First, I got to check an item off my 2023 goals list by attending a meetup with the Charm City Lolita comm in Maryland with my sister in February. I had a really lovely time at that meet, it is one of the highlights of my year. My next coord was a character inspired coord/cosplay(?) for Tora Con; my semi-local anime convention. My last coord for the winter season would be to a ..read more

This year for December International Lolita Day I hosted a meet up with my regional comm. I was worried I’d have to cancel the meet after several people got sick and it seemed no one would be able to come but we managed to get a small group together. We started the day with some lovely afternoon treats at White Rabbit Dessert Experience. We haven’t been here as a comm since early 2021, so it was nice to come back here after all that time. I had the banana dolce Belgian waffle. It was enormous and so so good. Our waiter was really nice and we had no wait to get a table. For this meet up I wor ..read more

Taobao Haul + Review #7

Wow its been a while since I did one of these hasn’t it? Back in June, there was interest brought to my attention for doing a group Taobao order. Since I am well versed in the Taobao shopping app and using a shopping service, I offered to facilitate this order and put everything together and deal with the shopping service. I elected to use 42Agent because I have a good history and rapport with them, and they also have a low fee. After all was said and done, the ten of us placed an order for upwards of $1000, $275 to ship AIR, in a 30lbs box! I couldn’t wait to drag this into my house. Once the ..read more

This month’s Bibliotheca blog theme is horror! I really didn’t know what to write for this and while I got a lot of great ideas from my fellow Bibliotheca bloggers, I finally was inspired enough to write about something and I have decided to use this month’s theme to talk about spooky & Halloween meet up ideas! Want to do something spooky, and Halloweeny with your comm? Need ideas of what to do? Read on for some of my tips for hosting a perfectly spooky meet up~ Pumpkin Patch – this one is kind of obvious, and definitely the most common. Take your comm to a local pumpkin patch.
