It has been a few weeks since I have previewed an event but man oh man do we have a good one this weekend! The Saskatchewan Open gets underway this Saturday in Melville and this year there will be nearly 130 players in the field. It is the premiere disc golf event in the province, and in its sixteenth year, it’s coming to the Parkland region. There are a total of 16 Women in the field, which is the biggest group of women ever in a Sask Open field. We also have five juniors in the field this weekend which is great to see! Chris Ozolins (oh-zahl-ins) (1,003 rated) won his second Northern Ontario Championship last weekend. In this post we will get into: what discs propelled him to his three shot victory, where this win ranks, and the biggest moment of the weekend. Another hot summer weekend, and another huge event for Western Canadian Disc Golf. This is the first ever Escape Sports Open powered by Innova and since it sold out in less than an hour I definitely don’t think this will be the last. The wait is nearly over. 18 year old Noah Higgins returns to defend his title as the River City Cup sponsored by Gander Disc Golf begins Saturday at Rundle DGC in Edmonton. In 2020, Noah finished at -19 and three clear of Kailash Eagle Sanjivi. With the provincial borders being opened the field now features competitors from Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
