The government of Burkina Faso has suspended the radio broadcasts of BBC Africa and the U.S-funded Voice of America (VOA) for two weeks over their coverage of a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report accusing the army of extrajudicial killings.
In a statement released by the government’s spokesperson, the authorities also said that they had ordered internet service providers to suspend access to the websites and other digital platforms of the BBC, VOA and Human Rights Watch (HRW) from Burkina Faso.

In the wake of reports that the Lagos State Government has reached a truce with leading ride-hailing company, Uber, over a recent row about data sharing, the ride-hailing company has refused to confirm if this was true.
A spokesperson told Technext that they have had “productive engagements’ with the state government and are “open to continue doing so”. This was disclosed following a query into the matter.

Online food delivery companies, Glovo and Uber Eats have been ordered to open offices in the country by the Kenyan competition watchdog, the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK). The competition authority said this was necessary for effective complaint resolution.

An Instagram influencer, Jay Mazini has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment in New York for defrauding a network of Muslim followers to the tune of $8 million. The crime happened during the COVID-19 pandemic according to an AP report.

The Philippines Security and Exchange Commission has ordered the removal of the Binance app from Google and Apple stores for users in the Philippines. According to the country’s regulator, the order has been necessitated by security threats to investors and the need to protect the local economy.
