Before beginning life at Bournemouth University, there were a few things I wasn’t prepared enough for. When you first view your timetable, you might not be at uni a lot of the week. This time is to ensure you can complete the reading that is required for your course. Make sure you leave enough space in your week to fit in reading and understand the topics you later will speak about in seminars and assignments. Typically, at university, you have a couple of hours of reading a week for each module. This helps you develop your interpretation of what is being taught. Societies are so important to ..read more

Being a university student living at home in the local area offers a unique set of advantages and challenges that contribute to a distinctive academic journey. Many students opt out of traditional student accommodation for various reasons, such as familial ties, pets, financial constraints, relationships, or even health considerations. I’m a mature Masters student studying part-time due to health reasons. I live in Southampton and have an hour commute each way to BU’s Talbot Campus for my studies. Through my MSc course at BU I realised I am autistic, and was diagnosed part way through my cour ..read more

University is the perfect time to explore new places and there are so many incredible sights near Bournemouth that you should check out! Here are a few of my favourite day trips… Durdle Door: A world heritage site situated on the Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on a gorgeous pebble beach. There is a clifftop walk with amazing views of the sea and beach below or you can walk down to the beach and explore. How to get there: Get a train from Bournemouth Railway station to Wool Railway station and then get either the 15, 30 or X55 bus to West Lulworth which is a short walk ..read more

It is worth looking at all the different types of student bank accounts out there and seeing what will benefit you. I love to use my ..read more

It can be quite daunting starting university but as a third year student here at Bournemouth these are my top tips to help you feel more prepared and make the most out of your university experience! Before you move to university: Do your research! It’s great to familiarise yourself with the university and what it has to offer before you get there. A great way to do this is to attend an Open Day, visit the town or look at the online resources available. Start collecting things for university a few months before – avoid being in a rush the week before you move, make sure you have everything you ..read more
