Montreal dropped their fifth game to Toronto who finished the season unbeaten against them and clinched a playoff spot in the process. On Thursday night in Verdun Montreal snapped a four-game losing streak against Minnesota pulling off a late comeback to secure the win. Canada lost a heartbreaking, gut-wrenching contest to their arch-rivals the US on Monday night in Utica losing in overtime to end the group stage. When Canada plays the US in any hockey event you know the stakes are high, you have two of the biggest hockey nations going at it and once again it didn’t disappoint. Canada shut out its Swiss opponent 3-0 to improve to 2-0 and secure their 101st win on the international stage. Emma Maltais and Sarah Nurse scored for Canada while Sarah Fillier scored into an empty net to get past Switzerland with ease at the Women’s World Hockey Championship in Utica.
