I hear a lot of people say pitchers are bigger and stronger, so they pitch faster. That is not always true though. There is another reason why they are pitching faster. We will get to that in a second. I found a stat that surprised me. Pitchers who can throw 100 have doubled since 2019 and tripled since 2018. Now I know they are getting bigger and stronger but not that fast. It seems like every time you turn on ESPN some other pitcher is out for the year…another Tommy John causality. On August 2, 1979, I remember the news that afternoon at 6 saying that a plane crash happened in Canton Ohio and Thurman Munson was dead. I scheduled this yesterday but it didn’t show up in the reader…at least mine so I tried again today. I was talking to some friends…Dave and Ron… asked if Billy Martin belonged in the Hall of Fame…they both said yes… so did I. This man to me was one of the best managers I’ve ever seen.
