Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the “Safe Exchange of Minor Children” act into law in early June 2024. The bill was passed nearly unanimously in the Florida legislature. The new law is intended to improve safety for children and parents during custody exchanges.   The statute is also referred to as “Cassie Carli,” named after a Florida mother who disappeared in 2022 after meeting with the father of her child for an exchange. Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony charges related to the purchase of a revolver in 2018. The trial occurred in Delaware, his home state. President Joe Biden’s son was charged with lying on a mandatory gun-purchase form by stating he had not illegally used or was addicted to drugs. President Biden announced that the Justice Department would be formally moving to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug. Ida Ann Lorezno, age 48, was at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse in St. George when she saw a group of teenage girls sitting near her at the restaurant. In a video on social media, Lorezno can be seen speaking with the girls. She accused one of the girls of dressing inappropriately because her skirt was too short. What’s in a name? Oakland airport is willing to risk a lawsuit to change their name to the “San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport” (OAK). Not to be confused with it’s more famous counterpart, the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) voted 3-2 to ban nearly all noncompete clauses in employment agreements. Noncompete clauses typically prevent workers from joining competing businesses or stating a competing business.   The FTC estimates that about 30 million Americans are bound by noncompete clauses. Workers impacted by noncompete clauses range from minimum wage workers to CEOs.
