These tofu donut holes are light and crispy on the outside and moist and cakey on the inside with a hint sweetness. They're made with just 4 ingredients and perfect for a quick and easy snack or dessert.
Tofu donuts! or donut holes, timbits, whatever you wanna call it. My mom used to make them for us using Japanese hotcake (pancake) mix but found you can easily make them with more accessible ingredients outside of Japan.
These fried little balls were one of my favourite after school snacks and preferred them over timbits from Tim Hortons. They have a light crispy exterior and soft-moist inter ..read more

Sesame strawberry jam focaccia is a sweet and unique twist on the classic Italian bread. This focaccia recipe incorporates the nutty sesame seeds, sweet and fruity flavors of strawberry jam into the savory and chewy texture of focaccia, creating a delicious and versatile style of bread.
My newest obsession: sweet and savory focaccia!! Focaccia is one of my favourite breads to bake because of how simple, easy and da*n good it is. Moist and fluffy with a crusty top, laced with sweet strawberry jam and nuttiness from the sesame oil.

Quick Kimchi is an emergency version of the traditional Korean dish that is usually fermented for several days or weeks. This recipe uses a shortcut method that requires less time and ingredients, but still delivers a similar tangy, spicy and slightly sour taste that kimchi is famous for.
We love kimchi. Making kimchi is therapeutic too. Our family friend used to drop us off her homemade kimchi every few months and truly, you can't beat homemade traditional Kimchi (made with ~loveee~). But sometimes, I get a little lazy or forget to make a new batch before the current batch is gone. This is w ..read more

Natto curry is rich, creamy, flavourful, slimy and pure comfort. Serve over rice with a drizzle of mayo or avocado.
I tried natto curry for the first time last year at Coco-ichi and it's become one of my favourite ways to eat natto.
What is Natto Curry?
Natto curry is a delicious and nutritious dish that combines the unique flavor and texture of fermented soybeans with the rich and savory taste of curry. Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans that have been fermented with a special type of bacteria, resulting in a distinctive taste and texture. When combined with the warm an ..read more

This Caramelized Kimchi Jam is the epitome of how perfect sweet and savory are together. Spicy, with a little tang thanks to the natural acidity from the kimchi. Perfect for toast, sandwiches, bagels, crackers and more!!
Hi. Okay, I've gate-kept this recipe for too long, but it's time I share one of my favourite original recipes to date: Caramelized Kimchi Jam. I honestly didn't know whether to call this sweet relish, chutney or jam, lol but visually and texturally, I feel like it resembles jam the most. However, you can make it more chutney or relish like by altering how much to cook it down ..read more

Here is my ultimate collection of all the tableware that I love and that you may see in my photos and videos. This post will be updated as we collect more!!
I'll be ordering them by Japanese tableware essentials and then broader categories like donburi (rice bowls) and ramen bowls.
Ichiju-Sansai
The essentials consist of six different kinds of bowls and plates to serve a typical Japanese meal that follows the principles of Ichiju-Sansai.
ichi means one
ju means soup
san means three
sai means dishes
The basis of a Japanese meal includes one soup, three side dishes and rice, which is the stapl ..read more

Flax-afaba eggs are an easy and inexpensive egg substitute made with just two ingredients. This is the perfect egg alternative for eggless baking for those who are vegan, have egg allergies or trying to include more plant based options.
After years of experimenting with eggless baking, I've discovered the best (imo) egg substitute for baking, specifically cookies. Cookies are my favourite desserts to bake (but donuts are my favourite thing to eat lol), so it's really important for me to recipe develop cookies that deliver in not just flavour, but texture too.
I've tried pretty much every egg ..read more

Soft and chewy snickerdoodles with crispy bits of cinnamon sugar buttered toast. These buttered toast snickerdoodles are absolutely cracked. PS. if you don't like snickerdoodles, make them sugar cookies.
One of my favourite breakfasts growing up was cinnamon sugar buttered toast on my mom's homemade milk bread. Basically a generous layer of butter sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and then either fried on a pan or toasted in a toaster oven. It made the entire house smell like cinnamon rolls. So simple, but so delicious.
Last summer, I finally had the chance to visit Machino Donuts, which is a veg ..read more

Whipped tofu bowls with roasted veggies & chili crisp(y) chickpeas.
A rendition to all the hummus, cheese and various dip bowls that have been floating around on my explore lately.
The whipped tofu has a cheesy flavour with a fluffy texture so it’s not too dense and heavy— so it’s a lighter, yet satisfying meal that’s perfect for transition season covering the basics: protein from the tofu, carbs from the chickpeas (+ bread), fats from the oil and veggies ?.
Secret to crispy chickpeas that actually stay crunchy: potato starch!! Just like with tofu, if you coat it in potato starch first th ..read more
