Rosary Discussion
95 Questions

There is an interesting conversation on a friend’s Facebook page about whether the Luminous Mysteries should be included in the Rosary. Pope Saint John Paul II added them because he thought it a good thing to meditate on the earthly life and ministry of Christ. And we should study that, surely. There is a definite division between those who believe that it should be so, and those who believe it should have been left the way it was. So I decided to do a little bit of checking in Catholic history regarding the Rosary. Here is what I came up with.. What is truly interesting is that in many appari ..read more

Follow Uncle Scar’s Advice: Be Prepared!

Lots of chatter out there about how and when the end of time will come about. It really doesn’t matter. Sacred Scripture advises to watch, therefore, for you do NOT know the hour Christ will come again. Keep oil in your lamps. Preparation is the key. Knowing the WHAT of Doctrine will not necessarily be enough as the screws are tightened. The WHY will give you the reason to stand firm and not sway. And be prepared as you delve into the objective history of the Faith to be surprised and, dare I say, challenged. You may even learn to recognize teachings that are in error within the Church or a d ..read more

Questionable Synod Prep

The Pope will assign new Cardinals on Sept. 29 in preparation for the Synod… 18 of whom will be able to vote in the Synod. Packing the Synod. Nice. Lord have mercy. Laity will be able to vote. Looks like it may be more like a Protestant consistory that is run like a democracy. Christ have mercy. But the Church was not established by Christ as a political institution, dependent upon culture changes and laity input. Lord have mercy. We as Catholics must not fall into the error of complacency. We first need to know well the Deposit of Faith, along with the Doctrines which define Catholicism and a ..read more

The story in the link below broke out yesterday. I won’t describe the horrific act. You need to read it for yourselves. But the gist involves a teen who used abortion meds to end her pregnancy. The teen apparently was provided abortion meds from her mom. She aborted the baby. The baby was over 20 weeks, making the self-induced abortion illegal under Nebraska law. Both she and her mom are receiving mere slaps on their hands. And the charges against the girl and her mom? Main charges: concealing a dead body, and providing an illegal abortion (respectively). Not murder of an unborn baby. The sens ..read more

My friend Madalaine made me aware of this… Read this piece by a man I count as a FB friend, but more importantly a friend of the Faith… Peter Kwasniewski. Tell me if you develop a bleeding heart for poor Tucho, who fashions himself a victim because he was investigated (justifiably) by the body he will now lead, calling it an ‘inquisition’. The most telling quote from this new Prefect of what once was The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (held faithfully by champions such as Benedict XVI and Müller) is this: “Pope Francis ‘wants to give a different meaning to the Congregation for the ..read more

Trump Indictment vs. Biden Family Legal Issues There’s an ongoing double-standard of political hypocrisy at play here…kind of a goose-gander scenario in reverse. Observe how swiftly Trump has been indicted. Not so with Joe, Hunter, et al. BUT LET’S FOCUS ON TRUMP… Love him, hate him. Guilty, not guilty. These surface issues pale in comparison with what’s behind the curtain. The greater concern to Republicans/Conservatives/Christians is more pragmatic. As we watch Trump and a number of others being targeted (and thus far, progressive Democrats remain untouched), one thought should cross our ..read more

On the Padre Pio Film

There is so much buzz about the new Padre Pio movie. A friend of mine messaged me with a priest’s podcast. You may have seen it. In it, he essentially gives a thumbs-up for the Padre Pio film due to its artistic value. My friend asked if the priest’s assessment was accurate. Here is the essence of my response to him. Not in my opinion. Patrick Madrid and others would also disagree with this priest. This priest is leaning too heavily on the artistic value of the film. It is a progressive view on what is beneficial for believers to ingest. Here are my objections. Even though Padre Pio experience ..read more
