The Boston Celtics have made another selection in the 2024 NBA Draft. With the 54th overall pick in the 2024 draft, the Celtics selected 6-foot-8 forward Anton Watson out of Gonzaga. Watson earned first team All-WCC honors in his graduate season at Gonzaga, as he scored a career-best 14.5 points per game. Watson’s calling card, however, is defense. He finished his Gonzaga career second in school history in assists with 215, trailing only basketball great John Stockton. They officially selected Creighton forward Baylor Scheierman with the 30th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He led Creighton in scoring as a senior with 18.5 points per game, and also led the team with 9.0 rebounds per contest. The Bluejays won two NCAA tournament games to advance to the Sweet Sixteen, where they lost 82-75 to Tennessee. Scheierman scored a team-high 25 poin ..read more

Stewart: Could the Celtics Roster be affected by new CBA?

I hope this comes across as the easiest and cleanest way to describe this. The NBA is going through changes with it’s new collective bargaining agreement. The NBA cap is the worst cap in all of pro sports and NBA teams play their cap guys upwards of $6 million dollars. On July 1, 2023, the new CBA will officially take effect. It’s a seven-year agreement through the 2029-30 NBA season and it has new salary cap rules that include a second tax apron, penalties for violating tax aprons and new rules on contract extensions. It feels like based on moves and rumored Celtics moves, these new rules are ..read more

According to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, the Boston Celtics are one of multiple teams showing interest in the 28th pick in Thursday’s 2022 NBA Draft. The Golden State Warriors currently hold that draft pick, but the 2022 NBA champions may consider moving the pick because of the young depth and luxury tax burden they already have, per Deveney. The Celtics are without a first round pick, after trading their own pick at the deadline to the San Antonio Spurs to acquire Derrick White. As of Wednesday, the only selection Boston has in this year’s draft is the 53rd pick. “If you ask me right now what ..read more

NBA recognizes Massachusetts native Terrence Clarke at 2021 draft

Draft day is a special moment for so many people – for the players, their families, their coaches and mentors, and everyone who has helped them get to the pros. Terrence Clarke, who was born and raised in Dorchester, MA, was supposed to have that moment on Thursday. Heartbreakingly, he didn’t make it to his draft day. The 19-year-old died in a car accident earlier this year. Although Clarke couldn’t walk across the stage and shake Commissioner Adam Silver’s hand himself, the NBA did not let the night pass without recognizing the Massachusetts native. Silver paused the draft mid-way through the ..read more

After trading their first round pick to Oklahoma City earlier this offseason, the Celtics have just one selection to make in the 2021 NBA Draft. That will come in the second round, 45th overall. While that may seem late, there is plenty of depth in this year’s draft class. What will the Celtics do with that pick? Here are some options… Follow the Boston Celtics and the NBA at 985TheSportsHub.com ..read more

Celtics Notebook: Three possible free-agent targets at point guard
98.5 The Sports Hub » NBA Draft

The Celtics need a point guard, badly. Right now, they have Marcus Smart, Payton Pritchard, Tremont Waters, and Carsen Edwards in the backcourt. That is a lot of youth, and not a lot of talent. Boston doesn’t have enough cap space to sign some of the biggest names this offseason, but they will have plenty of space next year. So, the C’s don’t want to spend too much now and ruin their opportunity to hit on a big fish in the future. With all of that said, the Celtics most likely won’t be in the Kyle Lowry/Mike Conley/Goran Dragic sweepstakes, but there are some enticing free-agent depth guards ..read more
