Last week we took a mini getaway for a few nights. We live in such an amazing part of the world that we have so many fantastic getaway spots just a few hours drive from our doorstep. We live in Adelaide South Australia for those who don’t know me personally. This time we went to the Yorke Penninsula, where we were able to drive to amazinge beaches on the Copper Coast in a little over an hour. We also got amazing weather – with temps in the high 30s (C) which is high 90’s in F. Holidays for us have sometimes presented a challenge – as our night routine at home is somewhat challenging. My Anxiety Pt 2
Parenting Autism in Adelaide

A couple of years ago I posted on my being diagnosed with anxiety after finally seeing medical professionals about the reason I felt the way I do inside;  such as being very aware of my heart beating in my chest, and a sense of unease for no reason. Over the couple of years since then, I have had my ups and downs. I had a bit of a setback about 18 months ago where I almost was back at square one with how I was feeling originally. I returned to my GP, who recommended trying a different medication. This meant that I needed to detox from my original medication in order to start up on the new ..read more

Bloggers I Admire

Bloggers I admire Last month I reopened my WordPress account and am slowly getting back into writing again. I have about a dozen or so blogs either in development or ‘an idea’ to build on to add to it. I wasn’t even aware this account still existed with all my past blogs, so to get it back was pretty relieving. This year I have a little bit more time on my hands now, working the same amount of hours I have been for the past few years while now having no children home during the day, which is a new experience. I COULD spend most of my days off cleaning up after two kids, but I could a ..read more

Cars 2 (2011) Owen Wilson, Larry The Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Eddie Izzard Emily Mortimer, John Turturro, Thomas Kretschmann, John Ratzenburger, Bonnie Hunt.   Where do we start with this mess? Seriously, parents who first sat down in the cinema for the very first viewing must have thought they had taken their kids to the wrong theatre. Set some time after the events of the moderately successful, and critically well received first movie, Lightening McQueen is now a FOUR time Piston Cup winner and has returned home to Radiator Springs for his annual down time. At the same time an oil bill ..read more

The Power of Saying No

I have seen a few posts written by others on this topic, and it holds for me as well.  Not so long ago, but what seems like forever ago I worked in a different industry. I didn’t have kids and was trying to prove myself to so many people. To colleagues, to managers, to my family of how hard I should be working.  My main fear was however letting down my employer. I was at a place where I was trying to make a good impression and wanted to grow within a large corporation. I would constantly say yes to the most insane things you could think of. Some such examples were going into work ver ..read more

Short post today. Its school holidays here in Adelaide at the moment, and that means kids are home for two weeks. For those who DON’T live in Australia, our terms work somewhat different to those in the northern hemisphere. Our school year starts at the beginning of the year (since that is our summer) – and is broken up into four- ten week terms – with two week breaks in between each of them. We are currently at the end of the first week of holiday of term one. I for one am enjoying the school holidays, not only for the fact I get to spend a bit more time with my kids, but I also get a bit of ..read more
