Ripudaman Singh Malik, the man who was previously acquitted in the 1985 Air India bombings, was fatally shot in Surrey, British Columbia, in Canada on Thursday morning.
Shortly after the attack, a vehicle that is believed to belong to the suspect was found engulfed in fire a few blocks away from the scene.

Madeline Barker, the 47-year-old woman accused of hurling xenophobic comments and pepper-spraying a group of four Asian women in Chelsea last month, was indicted on 12 hate crime charges on Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Barker was indicted on eight counts of assault in the third degree as a hate crime and four counts of aggravated harassment in the second degree — a misdemeanor hate crime, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s Office.
Barker is currently being held at Rikers Island on $20,000 bail.

The 48-year-old armed man who allegedly threatened to kill the U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D, WA-07) outside her Seattle home was released from jail after prosecutors failed to file the hate crime charges in time.
The man was previously arrested on July 9 and detained in the King County Jail.
Jayapal told the dispatcher that her husband may have heard a pellet gun fired. One of her neighbors also told police she heard the man yell, “Go back to India, I’m going to kill you.”

JYP Entertainment girl group Itzy kicked off their summer comeback release today with the music video “Sneakers” off their newest mini album, “Checkmate.”
The mini album features seven sides total, the others being “Rac3r,” “What I Want,” “Free Fall,” “365,” “Domino” and an English language version of “Sneakers.”
It is the first domestic drop for Itzy in 2022 and is a follow up to their debut full length album “Crazy in Love” in September 2021 and their recent Japanese EP “Voltage” last April.

Ting-ting, a 10-year-old girl suffering from leukemia became the first in Taiwan to have been successfully treated with CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, a new form of immunotherapy, at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH).
CAR T-cell therapy became prominent in 2012 after 6-year-old American girl Emily Whitehead was successfully treated for her leukemia in a clinical trial.

A video of a dog being abused by a handler at a training school in Singapore went viral on Wednesday, sparking outrage on social media.
The Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) are now investigating the case shared on Facebook by the animal welfare group Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore (CDAS).

An anonymous septuagenarian sent 10,000 New Taiwan dollars (approximately $334) and a letter to Taiwan’s Gangshan train station to make up for the train fares they purportedly evaded 60 years ago as a student.
Addressed to Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) official Hsu Chu-ping, the mail arrived from the city of Kaohsiung’s Gangshan District on Tuesday.

Advocacy group Elimin8Hate from Vancouver, Canada, created ReclaimYourName.dic, a custom dictionary that adds over 8,000 names from more than 12 Asian countries to Microsoft Word.
The group, which serves as the advocacy arm of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, said that the custom dictionary aims to “normalize thousands of Asian names in the world’s most popular word processing software, where non-English identities are arbitrarily targeted as errors.”
