Pathfinder 110 has begun! With 3-days under our belts, here are the headlines.
Saturday's Canada Day and Pathfinder Big Moment saw fine weather and warm swimming waters. A fire ban remained in place but recent showers brought optimism it could lift in the Park soon. The camp staff bustled around all morning, primping Pathfinder one last time. The crew that started work May 1 looked proud of the new builds and repairs that had Camp shining. A final all-staff swim break before lunch, then Campers began to arrive, bringing their trunks and parents to the Motorboat Dock. The energy lev ..read more

Hey everyone, just a little bit of context before I begin. I wrote this speech sitting on the cliffs of Eustache with my feet dangling over the edge. There’s something special about edges, up there you can see the changing wind and it feels like you’re on the cusp of something. Of discovery. All learning happens of the edge. I hope I can bring a little bit of that feeling here tonight - that feeling of expectant wonder - that there is something to be discovered. Anyway, on to the speech.
Being here right now is wonderful. I mean, look around; out of the billions of people wh ..read more

Each year, Pathfinder's Aug. 19 final banquet program includes short speeches from an invited Camper and Staff member, representing their respective community on the Island. This year's were poignant. In 2021, having endured a closed 2020 season and the challenges of a Covid-adaptive 2021 season, our big crew filled the banquet Dining Hall with happiness, hunger and relief -- We had all remained healthy, and learned after much difficult waiting that Pathfinder life remained the same. But everyone had paid a price to reach Source Lake that year, we were intensely missing the guys who could not ..read more

Spring on Source Lake has become, over the past two decades, a busy scene with camp projects and outdoor education classes. Despite Pathfinder’s early school programming being cancelled for a second year, we just hosted a unique early-season educational event. On May 26-27, Pathfinder served as the host site for a large-scale Algonquin Park inter-agency training session, merging four of the entities serving cent ..read more

Greetings from Pathfinder! Camp is moving ahead with plans for Summer 2021. And, we have options for our families.
The Latest
As promised in the April 20 parent bulletin, Pathfinder has given the past two weeks a hard look for progress toward Ontario accepting camps' health guidance, and authorizing the reopening of overnight camps. And, for the Canada border authorities creating an exemption to allow American campers to come up north in July.
Canadian policy makers insist they want what we want: for camps to be open to our kids, and for the U.S. kids to get back to their camps.
Yet on May 3 ..read more
