Spring fully arrived at Chiswick House and Gardens this week, and what a joy to have our second week of holiday camp with this sweet weather and with nature at its best! We had fun exploring the forest, looking at different flowers blooming, and at how the world is transforming around us. We were busy playing sailors, shopkeepers, bus drivers, and letting our imaginations run free, creating different worlds where everything is possible.  We also had time for many fun activities where we could be creative and learn about the world around us: Painting in the Woods: We let our creativity ..read more

We have enjoyed our final week having the best time with our holiday campers! The children absolutely loved celebrating unicorn day - we created an amazing model unicorn in camp which the little ones were able to climb and practice their balance on.  Some great target-practice games have had the children practising their throwing abilities, challenging our little adventurers with different sized holes to throw the beanbags through. This was also a great way to incorporate numbers into our play, as different amounts of points were rewarded for different sized hoops.  Some tool work ..read more

This has been our last week of Easter holiday camps in our Morden forest, and we’ve made the most with the company of the adventurous Little Forest Folk who have joined us! One of the main activities we’ve had this week has been ‘searching for the dinosaur egg! Our fabulous educator Charlotte created a map of our forest space for the children to follow to find the mysterious lost eggs. Once we found them, the interaction changed into a fabulous sensory activity where the children found the small dinos inside the shredded paper beds. We had so much fun finding them!  Later in the day, we ..read more

In true British fashion, the weather has given us a range of seasons throughout each day this week. The mornings have been filled with rosy cheeks and cloudy skies with some glimmers of sun throughout the day. The children have spotted more insects coming out to explore the forest, in particular a giant leopard slug and some very cheerful robins.   This week we had some new friends visit us in the forest for their settling session, and we’re very excited that they’ll be joining us for their full-length sessions very soon. Holiday campers have returned for another week of fun too and some ..read more

Another forest week flew past, and we have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming back some of our holiday camp alumni to our sessions this week. Old friendships ignited amongst the trees is something to feel very grateful for.    New friendships have also begun to form, as some of our new settling children are gradually getting more used to forest life. We’ll look forward to helping these children build upon the foundations of this next week!  At the start of the week, it was chilly, and by Tuesday, the wild winds had halted forest fun on the common, so we headed inside for some safer p ..read more

This week marks our first Easter holiday camp week and as usual at Fulham we are all super excited to welcome not only some new faces to the forest but some regular holiday campers back too.  This week we have been engrossed in lots of group games, such as playing with the large wooden Jenga blocks and noughts and crosses. These games are great for the children as not only do they encourage turn-taking but also persistence and thought processes.  Using pens and paper we have been working on and practicing our letter writing, and we must say our Little Forest Folk-ers are reall ..read more

This week in our Morden forest, our full day children and easter holiday campers got stuck in with some tool work. Some children were keen to use their problem solving and creative skills and work out how to make their own toy car - the children measured the correct length for a toy car body from a fallen tree, then used the bow saw to make it their own. We used a hammer and nails to attach milk bottle lids to make the wheels. They were amazing! A few children made their own and raced them around the forest! Other children decided to saw their piece of wood to become an animal pendant whi ..read more
