Hi loyal readers! We’ve entered the final stretch of camp and while we are absolutely bummed to have to leave soon, we aren’t letting that stop us from having an amazing last few days. After Mo & Din, we went back to our regular routine of bunk activities and free choice! On Thursday, the Wolves, Haven 2, MOTs, Pios, and Apes went on their trip to Giffords (our favorite local ice cream shop)! Because of Covid, we took trips to Giffords early in the morning before they were open, to ensure that we were the only ones there. We also all wore masks and we used an ordering form so we didn’t ha ..read more

The Break Sunday night the entire camp loaded into the Modin Commons for a new and exiting evening activity: an interactive musical bingo game! Every camper got a bingo board where each slot was a song instead of a number. The DJ would play a song and if you had that song, you could check it off your bingo board, with the first person to fill their entire board being the winner. We all sang and danced our way through what we thought was one of the best evening activities Camp Modin has seen in recent years. Throughout the game, there were other mini games such as guess the song, guess the movi ..read more

Welcome back readers! Wow has it been a busy week! This past Wednesday, the apes returned from their long awaited river trip, filled with stories and smiles! As Rose Kesselman, one of the counselors for the female Apprentices put it, “ape trip was a breeze because we were having so much fun. The sunsets were impeccable and Bob cooked us dinners like no other! All in all, Ape trip was a blast and was truly unforgettable.” After the Apprentices returned, the entire camp gathered in the Rec Center to observe Tisha B’av. For those that don’t already know, Tisha B’av is one of the most solemn days ..read more

Dear readers, Camp has been abuzz with excitement this past week! On Sunday morning our Apes departed for their four day, three night canoe trip down the St. Croix River. While we missed our Apes dearly the past few days, the fun continued even in their absence! For starters, as per tradition, the Mots and Pios bunks stepped up in many ways during the past few days to lead the camp as the oldest bunks on camp! During Sunday’s line up, the Mots and Pios announced which bunks they would be “motting” and “pioing.” For some background, at the beginning of the summer each of our oldest campers (the ..read more

Salutations loyal readers! Yesterday we had yet another fantastic shabbat here at Camp Modin. Our day started with some delicious French Toast sticks, a classic Camp Modin breakfast. We then were treated to services outside led by Cantor Sheera Ben-David. Luckily, the weather was stunning and we were able to enjoy a beautiful service together on the shores of Salmon Lake. After services, the full camp assembled in the Friendship Circle for an activity led by the Apes: Run The Risk! Run the Risk is a game show type activity where there are a number of different small challenges for campers to c ..read more

Shabbat Shalom! Yesterday was a very special day at Camp Modin! After breakfast the whole camp gathered together at our picturesque Bima overlooking Salmon Lake to commemorate the B’nai Mitzvah of 22 campers who were unable to celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah in-person this spring. In the company of their bunkmates and counselors, Cantor Sheera Ben-David, and many family members and friends who Zoomed in, some campers read a few verses from their Parshas while others chose to participate through Torah Blessings, English readings, or just sharing their presence. All campers received the Birkat Koh ..read more

Dear Families and Friends, In many ways, we have never felt as fortunate to be at camp and with each other as we do now. This past Saturday night, Howie announced to the Modin community during Havdalah that the entire camp has tested negative for Covid (check out Modin’s social media for the video)! These are the results that we have all dreamed about, and we are now able to fully enjoy camp as we know and love it! While we remain vigilant moving forward, we are now in high gear with our camp programs and all is back to normal on the shores of Salmon Lake. On July 9th, Modin campers escaped fr ..read more
