For all chocolate lovers... If you're a self-confessed chocoholic looking for an excuse to eat chocolate, then look no further. It's a short but sweet blog (pardon the pun) on how to make a chocolate dome. All you need is a dome shape silicone mold, cup to melt chocolate in, a pastry brush and of course...good quality chocolate! See how easy it is with this video.  So why not stick on some music, have a glass of gin at the ready and off you go... The post Chocoholics anonymous appeared first on ..read more

ONE, TWO, TEE OFF... Golf was never a sport I'd taken an interest in let alone trying it myself. But It was on a Sunday afternoon when me and my other half Paul were at a loose end, we decided to go along to a local driving range to hit some balls (I'm sure that's not the technical term)? The afternoon turned out to be surprisingly fun and full laughter - mainly at my awful attempts at hitting the balls.     Up until then, I always thought golf was an elitist game which was boorrrring! I imagined rich men wearing Rupert the Bear trousers (for those who remember that fa ..read more

MIDLIFE INTERNET DATING.... Beginners Guide Are you ready? Are you ready for the mysterious world of internet dating? I was 47 when I subscribed to Match which had a reputation for being a sensible, mainstream website. However, the moment I saw all the men's profiles jumping out at me, I froze. In a panic, I frantically looked around to see how to close the account. My hands were shaking envisaging dodgy men sending me dodgy messages. That's how my irrational mind worked, I was convinced that's how internet dating worked. What can I say, other than I obviously wasn't ready for interne ..read more

Up, Up and Away... I’m so excited to share another Midlife Crisis bucket list challenge...FLYING A PLANE!! My partner, Paul, shocked during a conversation asking me if I would like to have a flying lesson for my 50th birthday. We'd only been dating for a month and my first thought was, are you mad? I mean I hate flying, I hate heights and the thought of both terrified me. Nonetheless, I was always looking at ways to challenge myself and I thought why not? When the big day arrived, the sky did not look great. It was dull, the clouds looked low and it was way too windy for my liking and I w ..read more

Shaken not stirred Easy cocktails for beginners Anyone who knows me, will know I like the odd glass of fizz almost as much as I like my chocolate. For that reason I thought why not have a go at cocktail making experience for a bucket list challenge?   I have always daydreamed of walking into a classy cocktail lounge in a posh hotel, dressed in my refinery (no leather in sight). I would perch on the edge of my barstool gazing excitedly at the barman who would no doubt resemble Tom Cruise from the film Cocktail.  He would wow me with his cocktail making skills, and we would tak ..read more

About me

TIME WAS TICKING...... About me.... Where to begin? I confess If I’d tried to describe myself a year ago, I wouldn’t know where to begin. The only thing I could tell you was, I was a crazy lady. Picture a very tall, middle aged lady, dressed in black (not a goth) who had a case of split personality.  One minute I could be having an emotional meltdown, dramatically declaring to anyone who would listen, no man loved me…….oh, the joy of internet dating.  Whilst the next minute, I could be running around with excitement after completing another cliche bucket list challenge. ......Thi ..read more

Imperfectly Potty....... During this strange time if you're struggling with the lockdown,  it can be hard to know how to keep your spirits up or keep your children occupied.  Making cement pots could be the answer. I've enjoyed making cement pots for a few years and what I love about this hobby is it doesn't require years of skill, the end results don't have to be perfect and it's relatively cheap. The only thing which is a must is; patience and the ability to overlook a bit of mess.  If that’s something you have, then you will LOVE making cement pots. Read on to see how ..read more

……..STARTING SMALL! Are you approaching a milestone birthday? Have wrinkles appeared on your face left, right and centre? Are you wearing leather clothes or borrowing your daughters bodysuits…..worse still wearing leather bodysuits? Welcome to my life, oh and by the way, you could be facing a midlife crisis! For my first blog post, I wanted to start small sharing one of my early skills I learnt……knitting! Now, this is no longer seen as something to do for the over 90’s, watching Coronation Street sucking on your sherbet lemons. I can vouch for that. It’s a craft for anyone and any age, it ..read more

Snake charming

Ready to face your fear? First Impressions... I'm sure it's easy to guess what this challenge involves? Snakes! More specifically overcoming my fear of snakes. I have always shuddered at the thought of snakes.  There's something hypnotic about the way there long bodies slither and tongues dart in and out, and as for holding a snake; my hands would sweat and my heart would race. That being said if I rationalised things, I was hardly likely to come into contact with them....well not in exotic Suffolk. When I looked into finding a place where I could tackle this challenge, I half hope ..read more
