A Really Good Yarn

I cast on last night. I wasn’t going to but something made me. I’m using Afternoon Delight for my main colour and Echo Echo for the contrast. Plump is a joy to work with. Here is the wrong side. Tonight I decorated the Christmas tree. Or I should say I started decorating it. Now that all the decorations are up I need to rearrange. That will be tomorrow’s job. Have a good evening. It’s Plump time ..read more

Andrea Mowry has two new patterns using Spincycle Plump. You can find the pattern for Plumped Up Harlow on Ravelry. When my pal Kate mentioned I was lacking a bulky weight Harlow - there was only one appropriate response: Challenge accepted! Hello, new go-to hat pattern that I can knit up for quick gifts (or for myself)! This is the pattern I know I can depend on for stash-busting, wardrobe-enhancing, or a quick gift for someone I love! Ideal for beginner brioche enthusiasts, this hat is knit from the bottom up in two color brioche and is totally reversible! And did I mention the spruced up c ..read more

Home Again
A Really Good Yarn

I’m home and writing a quick post because I didn’t write yesterday. Here is my cowl before getting on the plane. I was able to knit lots on the plane. I made it to the decreases just before we landed. The colours look so much better in the lighting at home. I’m finishing my tea and heading to bed. It was a long day and I need to be in the store early. Lynn came in on Monday and Tuesday to get orders ready. I will double check them in the morning and then Mr. UPS will be stopping by to pick them up.  ..read more

The Conservatory
A Really Good Yarn

I was on a mission today. First stop was the mall to go to Kay’s Jewellers. Every December we buy bears there and all the proceeds go to St. Judes hospital. Our lawyer’s daughter does research at St Judes so it is extra special to purchase the bears. This year’s bears are very cute. Then onto the Bellagio. The Conservatory didn’t disappoint. Now I’m inspired to get home and set up our tree. We are decorating this year. For the past few years we haven’t but I convinced Beth that we could this year. I think it could be the carrying of everything from the basement. When ..read more

It’s (almost) the most wonderful time of the year! A time when we could all use an extra skein or two of peace and love. Our December 2024 colorway is just that! It’s merry and bright, like the most colorful string of lights, and totally embodies our Floridian holiday spirit. The December Crazy Beautiful Club should be arriving sometime this week. Once UPS has the box on Monday or Tuesday I will add the yarn to the website. We suggest Bobbin Cactus Flower Oops! We sold our house! It’s a happy day to see the sold sign. The move won’t be happening until March but we’re so happy that we don’t have to clean the house every morning in case people want to come through. We love Jackson but he leaves hair everywhere. Isabell Kraemer has a new pattern called Heimathafen and you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry. Starting with the neck shaping, short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck. The yoke is then worked in the round to sleeve separation. Increases are worked in the main color part of the yoke. The lower part of the yoke is s ..read more

Inclinations Shawl
A Really Good Yarn

I spent some time helping a knitter pick out colours to knit the Inclinations Shawl. I was showing her the shawls that I knit and then decided to share with all of you. You can purchase the pattern for the Inclinations Shawl on Ravelry. This shawl is all about texture, squish and the movement of color. Watching the colors move and change was mesmerizing, and I finished the shawl long before I was ready to, because I just could not set it down! You can absolutely play with different color options, and I share some ideas in the pattern, but don’t be afraid to make it your own! Knit it in 1 col ..read more
