Get Me To Church On Time!
Practical Missionary

I am an early bird by nature, and try my best to get to church on time. However, we all make mistakes. Sometimes, you can be as prepared as possible and still get caught off guard. If we’re being honest here, I’ve lost my keys on more than a few occasions, and as such, I pat my pockets often to make sure I have them…..well, except for the other Sunday. The Plans Changed I had it all planned; I would get to church a little early to set up something for a Sunday School lesson I was teaching. I’d be ready, greet the kids, and teach the class and it would be great. In reality, I went to unlock our ..read more

New House, New Adventures!
Practical Missionary

So, big news! My wife and I have recently moved to a small duplex in the city. What does that mean? A new house means new adventures! It has been a strange change for sure! I have always lived way out in the county, a usually pretty quiet place, and now I find myself on a bustling street at all hours. It’s been a time of sound change and a time of establishing new routines. Sorting The Boxes Photo by cottonbro on Pexels.com Going through the boxes while making the move, I’ve had to choose what I have that’s important and what I’ve needed to let go of for a long time. I’m not a hoarder by any m ..read more

Practical Missionary

You’d think by now that I would’ve done a dedicated post explaining what I feel a Practical Missionary should like…….but somehow, I missed that! So let’s dive into what it means to be a missionary in your daily life. “So, you got me to check out your blog. What’s a ‘Practical Missionary’ anyway?” I’m so glad you asked! This is not a cult. This blog is simply about challenging you to go deeper in your relationship with Christ and to challenge you to live that out every day.                  #1 Airplanes are not Required Photo by J ..read more

I Refuse To Waste My Life! (And You Should Too!)

I refuse to waste my life! So many people go to work they hate to get some money and call it a day. I can’t treat work as a four-letter word. For me, I’ve entered a new stage in my life, and like with any new chapter, it comes with new challenges. I can’t thank my wife enough for being here with me as we both make the fun and challenging transition of being together. New Levels, New Devils As I said, each chapter in our lives brings forth new challenges. Now that the rush of wedding planning is over and we are settling into our lives, our budget is tight! For those that don’t know, I work as a ..read more

Pickups and Forgiveness

I am the proud owner of a 1994 F-150 pickup. It certainly has its quirks, but it belongs to me! I had never considered myself a truck guy, but there is a story behind the “Bluestreak” that brought me to change my opinion about driving a truck and another, more important notion in my life. Let’s talk about pickups and forgiveness! The Bad Stuff  My relationship with my grandparents on my dad’s side, was not the greatest, to put it simply. Even though they lived near us, I only remember visiting a handful of times as a kid, and less as an adult. My grandfather (or “papaw ..read more

When Wedding Bells Ring

Planning a wedding is insane, but come the big day, all I could hope is that everything went well. I woke up that morning and ate exactly one half of a pop tart. My hands were shaking and I was sweating because I was so nervous. I had undergone vigorous training by watching old AFV videos about wedding disasters and made sure I was ready! Joking aside, I’ve never been more nervous in my life.  That Morning I was at the church early the morning of the wedding, getting as many things ready as possible. My groomsmen and I got things set up (along with other family members), and we greeted g ..read more

If you’re like me, you’ve probably heard about Dave Ramsey all your life; He’s a legend. It’s hard to imagine mixing Christianity and personal finance, two very different concepts, into one cohesive book. However, there’s a reason Financial Peace is a best seller! I know, this book has been out for years, so why write on it now? Because as more people my age hit their twenties and thirties, they’re still making the same mistakes that their parents made. Living in debt is not cool and never will be! A Millennial Reading Financial Peace? Faith and I are getting married in about two months, and I ..read more

What Is a Prayer Of Healing?
Practical Missionary
by Practical Missionary

There are many different kinds of prayers. We pray prayers of thankfulness, protection, safety, and so on, but one form gets overlooked a lot. What is a prayer of healing exactly? Does it magically solve all of our problems and let us sleep easy at night knowing all is right? Unfortunately no. But let’s talk about what a prayer of healing is and how it affects us. What is a Prayer of Healing? Quite simply, a prayer of healing is you crying out for God to take away a sickness on your own behalf or for someone else. There are no magical words here to speak because God is not a magic genie living ..read more

Cancel The Culture Book Review

I had the opportunity to review Cancel The Culture by Bishop Eric A Lambert, Jr. and Chris Mckinney. I am proud to say that I received a signed copy of this book, and it was a fun experience to read this book. Bishop Lambert lays out this book as twelve chapters, each having a different focus for that particular month of the year. If reading isn’t your thing, don’t worry. This book is designed to be read one chapter per month. If you’re an avid reader, though, and feel like it, at just over 200 pages long and you can knock this book out quickly! At the end of each chapter, Bishop Lambert has t ..read more

5 Ways to Volunteer
Practical Missionary

Volunteering is one of the most worthwhile things I can recommend to anyone. Many will hesitate at the idea of volunteer work. Let me tell you what, though, I never feel better than when I am the hands and feet of Jesus. Especially when I begin to focus too much on myself and what I want, God shows me a bigger picture. I believe God has called us to live out a missionary lifestyle every day (hence the blog name!). A big step is volunteering your time. There are more ways, but the following 5 ways to volunteer can give you some good ideas to start with. Church Photo by Luis Quintero on Pexels.c ..read more
