Dare I say summer has arrived! I love the summer months. I think the sunshine makes everyone feel happier and everywhere looks so pretty. But when you are pregnant, hot weather can be exhausting. I remember when I was pregnant in 2018 and it was one of the hottest summers for 40 years and I really struggled, especially late on in my pregnancy. The only thing that should be sizzling this summer is the BBQ so with some help from some from my lovely clients, here are 5 tricks to stop you sizzling. Hands and Feet This is one that I have tried and it does work. Placing your hands and feet into a co ..read more

Being a mum is tough....I get it now

A lot of newborn photographers start their business as a result of having children and taking photographs of them but for me, I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. When I started my business over two years ago, I didn't have any children but my clients would always say that I was great with kids (probably thanks to my 4 nephews). However, it is only since I have become a mum myself, I realise how tough a job it is. Juggling motherhood and a business is hard. That is why I am probably the worst business woman ever (Lord Sugar would say you're fired before I'd even walked i ..read more

Cheshire's New Award Winning Photographer

So I wanted to share some super exciting news with you. As part of my own professional development, I decided to submit some of my portraits to the Guild of Photographers National Competition. This is a fiercely popular competition among Professional Photographers as to achieve any award from the Guild is very prestigious. Although I really value feedback from my lovely clients and peers, I entered the competition as it is equally important to me that my work is critiqued by a panel of experts. Having my portraits assessed from a technical perspective and considering options such as lighting a ..read more

Firstly let me start by introducing myself, I am Abi and I love taking photographs. My inspiration came from my lovely dad who was a keen photographer too. As a kid growing up, all I can remember is a camera lens pointing my way. However these days, I much prefer to be the other side of the camera. Here is a picture of me around the age of 8. I love this picture that my dad took, it tells a story. A story of me on holiday down in Hampshire, scraping my leg making a den. The reason why I love this photograph so much is because it represents a moment in time, never to be recaptured. I carried o ..read more

Ballet Photography in Cheshire

My heart was beating out of my chest. I was stood in the darkness and then all of a sudden, I heard the orchestra start to play. The curtains rose and the spotlight dazzled my eyes. Before I could even think about it, I was dancing across the stage. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. I started ballet classes in a local ballet school when I was 2.5 years old and still remember my dad taking me to class and I was sat on his handle bars (can you imagine that these days, there is no way I would ride a bike with Lottie on the handle bars!). When I was 7, I went to the Liverpool Theatre ..read more

Why can breastfeeding be so difficult?

When I was pregnant, there were lots of things I worried about. Will I be able to cope? Will I be a good mum? Do I have everything I need for my baby? The one thing I did not worry about or even give much consideration was breastfeeding but I had already decided that I wanted to give it a go. I went to a breastfeeding session at Leighton Hospital which was really useful and we discussed it as part of the ,NCT parenting class but other than that, I didn’t really think about it. It would be something that I dealt with when the baby was here. "Why did something that was so natural feel anything b ..read more

You’ve just had a baby. Congratulations. Looking to have some baby photos taken to remember this special time in your life. Just a few. You don’t need to be in it. Plus, you are worried about your baby weight. You hate photographs of yourself. You need to get your roots done. I get it. I hear this a lot. When mummy enquired about a newborn session, she said she just wanted a couple of baby photos of her gorgeous little boy Jacob. We had already missed the newborn stage due to lockdown. I said to mummy that it would be good for her and daddy to get in the photograph with Jacob, even if it was ..read more

(as voted for by Lottie aged 2.5) 'In between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be'. Our house is full of books. I am not an avid reader and tend to listen to audiobooks now but I love our times together when we sit and read. Lottie loves to read. I think she prefers it more than playing with toys. She is so happy when she has a book in her hand to read. Even if she doesn't know the story, it doesn't stop her. She'll just make a story up based on the pictures. As today is #worldbookday, we thought we would celebrate by complying our top ten books as voted for by Lottie. These ar ..read more

What is mum guilt?
Abigail's Photography

It was 4am on the 19th December 2017 when it first happened. I was alone. Shaking with emotion. Exhausted. Through blurry eyes, I struggled to see whether there was one or two. I waited. But not for long. Then there it was. Two. Two lines. Two pink lines that were to change my life forever. The overwhelming feeling of joy was quickly replaced with a massive surge of guilt. A stomach churning, heart pounding surge of guilt. Crap. What about the wine? I'd drank mulled wine at the Christmas markets the week before. It was only one. But still. It was enough to make me feel like a bad mum already ..read more
