Valentine's Day is coming up and I thought I'd post a little gift guide for the home decor lovers out there (let's be honest, I'm giving some strong hints to my husband). To be really really honest, we don't usually buy gifts for each other for Valentine's Day but with the past two years we've been going through we've really been trying to celebrate everything an anything - just to keep things exciting,

Oh we're getting close now. I feel awful I haven't been able to post content lately (life just takes over sometimes). As our world is headed into more unpredictable times I'm thinking our holidays will again look a bit different. That being said, I thought I'd share a fun different idea for your Christmas dinner table and share all the details of how to create a low boho Christmas table (also a great idea for a unique kids table). There's always something fun about eating on a low table sitting on pillows (maybe it's the change in view and the casualness).
You'll never believe it but ..read more

The holidays are upon us and I have to admit we've been a bit behind on the decorating this year but I always love sharing a few DIYs during the Christmas season. Today I'm sharing a quick DIY chunky yarn Christmas tree which is basically a dollar store hack. This easy and affordable project would make the perfect hostess gift.
I picked up a few of the tinsel holiday trees from the dollar store and removed the red sparkly garland. To be honest I don't hate the sparkle I just don't love red for some reason.
After I removed the tinsel I wrapped the plastic tree frame with some thick c ..read more

If you're too old for celebrating Halloween or dressing up (let's be honest you're never too old to dress up), you can always have a minimalist Halloween dinner party. Today I'm sharing our Halloween table scape which is as much interior design as it is Halloween decor. I'm a big fan of modern minimalist design in general and when it comes Halloween design I like to keep it that way. Let's be honest I'm not into the gore of Halloween (it kind of scares me lol), I prefer the fun subtly creepy side of decor. See details of my Halloween tablescape below:

Canadian Thanksgiving is right around the corner and since I've been a bit MIA on the blog I thought a good Thanksgiving post would get me back into the swing of things. Nothing lifts my end of summer blues like the excitement of creating a warm and cozy home for Thanksgiving. Here are few pics of my home and some fall decorating ideas for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Fireplace Decor:
The fireplace in our sitting room is just a mantel so it opens the door to a lot more possibilities when it comes to decorating (it's also often more challenging). For this years Thanksgiving I decided to g ..read more

Do you love a good moodboard? Moodboards are an invaluable part of the renovation process. They provide a design roadmap and help to ensure all the elements work together. They also make it easy to identify if something doesn't work before you make a costly investment. Aesthetically blending flooring, paint, wallpaper, finishes and furniture can sound easy but many people find it overwhelming. As part of their 2021 Style Watch Influencer Campaign, Flooring Canada sent me a design kit full of amazing flooring samples and accessories to build a moodboard for our be ..read more

If the kitchen is the heart of the home, the island is the aorta. The kitchen island has acted as a space divider in our open concept homes and has created a hub for entertaining. While the island has solved for many needs it also introduced some new challenges. For example, eating dinner lined in row rather than across from each other has hindered our ability to connect plus the height of the counter stool makes long term sitting uncomfortable. So today we're sharing a new trend in kitchen interior, kitchen tables replacing kitchen islands. Here are some of our favourite examples of the ..read more

We're bringing you this fun little bathroom makeover because it's long overdue and we've got a fun DIY to go with it. To be honest, it wasn't until I made this cute DIY towel ring holder that I got excited to write about the bathroom renovation overall. It was very much a spur of the moment renovation decision which doesn't always work. I usually have a fully thought-out moodboard, 3d rendering and finishing selections but with this renovation it was different. My husband hired the tiler to come in, start demo and I had a day to choose tile. Sometimes jumping in and flying by the seat of your ..read more

A few weeks ago we chatted about plaster and it being a hot new trend in interior design, everything from tables to vases to candlesticks. With it's cool white hues and chalky texture it's easy to see why people are loving plaster. Plaster can elevate any space and take it to the coast of California. Today we're sharing an easy idea to make some plaster accents for your home specifically DIY mid century plaster candlestick holders. The best part of this DIY is that the mold is made from recycled materials so be sure to use what's in your recycling bin, they'll be a great conversation starter a ..read more
