Living through multiple divorces & starting overs as a kid gave me a little more background for when my own divorce happened at midlife. Here is what I learned.

After 15 years of working with leading Ophthalmologist in Glaucoma, Cataracts, Retina, and Comprehensive clinics, I have heard the same question asked about a billion times. “Why is my vision suddenly blurry?” As always, I cannot diagnose the issue without looking at each eye individually but I can give you a few places to start to see if it helps the situation until you can be seen by an Ophthalmologist.

What is Grey Divorce?
This is the term used to describe “older couples” who have been married for a long time who are separating or divorcing according to Wikipedia. “Older couples” are supposedly the baby boomers mentioned in the US Census. Divorce is the separation and dissolution of marriage and marital assets between two people. I can imagine you probably know at least one person who has experienced divorce at middle age. Of my circle of friends, all of us are divorced with only two getting divorced younger. I see it everywhere.

How many of these incredible people do you know? I’m going to share the top thought leaders for women in their 40’s and 50’s that really changed my life for the better.
I was floored recently when a friend of mine told me that she never watches YouTube videos or reads blogs. Two seconds later she was telling me about how out of touch she feels and stuck. My question is this, could staying about from the internet be part of the problem? It sounds a little crazy I know, but reading blogs is a great way for me to relate to other people with social distancing in place.

I am tired of looking around and seeing midlife women in their 40’s and 50’s being compared to 20 and 30-somethings when it comes to beauty and vitality. I absolutely love YouTube, but I struggle to find vloggers who look like me. Having to touch up root color and actually conceal wrinkles instead of perfecting 50 ways to line your eyes–no of which I can do!
Middle aged women need to be represented.

There is nothing that anyone can say or do to fix being a divorced middle aged woman. However, having someone to sympathize with and encourage you to dig out of this mess is powerful.
