It has once again been very difficult knocking down all these great albums released this year just down to Ten , The ten that made it are mostly in the top ten for being pure nostalgic memories givers , apart from the number 10 Goo By Sonic Youth because it is such a really great ..read more

1988 a fine year ,another year of great music and in fact could even be stronger than 1987 ,so many brillant albums not making the final 10 Dinosaur Jnr’s “Bug” and The Pixies “Surfa Rosa” being edged out the top 10 ,both which i expected to make the final 10 .Nick cave’s Tender Prey album another that was in the running alongside so many other wonderful releases . Julian Copes “My Nation Underground” i was not expecting to make the 10 but after relistening to it for this task i have set myself, i realised what a brilliant 60’s tinged pop album it is but in a very 80’s way a wonderful li ..read more

1987 has taken me ages to have a good relisten to , so many great albums so many memories come flooding back which i think has effected my top ten choice, as sometimes you cannot separate the memories from the music. As you can see by the top ten i was very much an alternative indie guitar loving kind of chap when i was 20/21 . All these albums i love even the Smiths one which is a bit patchy but has some of my favourite Smiths songs on it and i can remember it soundtracking my daily bus journey to and from Warrington when i worked in the Our Price there. The Happy Mondays my number one ,but t ..read more

1986 was a another great year for albums and was very difficult to narrowing it down albums just missing the ten included Easterhouse with their contenders album Rem with Lifes Rich Pageant which made number 11
The The Infected album which although i still liked did not enjoy as much as i once did Virginia Astley Hope In A Darkened Heart also just missing out and the Fall with their Bend sinister album which is a good album but my least favourite Fall album of the 80’s . Elvis Costello made it twice with his two excellent albums released that year Blood and Chocolate being my favourite E ..read more

1985 here we are at last, a year of great guitar music that dominates my top ten , my number one album surprised me as i forgot how much i loved the debut album from Stephan Duffy a album of brilliant intelligent witty pop music ,a album that never seems to get mentioned anywhere ,is Stephen Duffy the most underrated songwriter from the 80’s .could very well be. Albums that did not make it but came very close was “Around The world In A day ” which came in at number eleven being edged out by the wonderful Pale fountains ,the nostalgia that surrounds this album for me slightly gave it the edge ..read more
