The Elicker Administration is “exploring” a vaccination mandate for city employees, and is strongly encouraging —though not requiring— that New Haveners wear masks while indoors in public places, regardless of whether they are vaccinated. Mayor Justin Elicker and city Health Director Maritza Bond gave those updates Friday morning during a press conference held on the sidewalk in front of City Hall. Most hospitals in Connecticut will require their workers to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by Sept. 30, though data show the rate of immunization across hospital staff has increased only modestly in recent months.
