My partner and I plan to visit Hokkaido in summer. We have booked the flights and accommodations already, but we are open to changes depending on your feedback.
This is not our first trip to Japan (but first time in Holkaido) and we wanted to focus on Hokkaido not only because we love nature, but also because we hoped that we could escape the extreme humidity of other parts of Japan and South Korea (where I currently live).
We will fly in in the middle of July from South Korea, so jetlag won't be an issue.
Day 1: Land in Sapporo-Chitose in the afternoon, go to Sapporo, check into Airbnb, grab ..read more

Would greatly appreciate any feedback on my current itinerary for next month. This is the first time I've had to plan a trip overseas as we don't travel much. I will be traveling with my parents who are older, so I don't plan on this trip being too intense at the same time I think some days may be too sparse as I may be overly cautious of their limitations. I don't have any specific locations that I'm dying to eat at so I haven't included them in the itinerary, I figured we would find places to eat along the way but if I wouldn't mind any recs. Appreciate any recommendations of places to add ..read more

Hi guys! My partner and I (early 30s) are going back to Japan in just a year. We did the golden route last year and loved it so much. Here is our iterinary. Would love your advice on whether we are packing too many things together - and if we are missing something! Also welcoming recommendations for food (we LOVE ramen, but enjoy all Japanese food) in the different places we are visiting. We are also beer people and love experimenting with breweries
May 11: Arrive in Tokyo at night, check in to the hotel
May 12: Explore Tokyo, do some shopping around Ginza. I am starting a new corporate job ..read more

Wanted to share what I did in Kyoto when renting a kimono as I think I managed to squeeze a lot in one day after researching various forums! Hope its useful for anyone planning the same.
9am: Rent kimono - this is key to get your pick of the kimonos and to have the whole day to explore. The whole process can take up to an hour. I paid extra for the hair styling and think it's worth it. My kimono Rental was 5mins from Yasaka shrine (booked on Klook).
10am-1:30pm: Yasaka Shrine, Sannenzaka (pedestrian street with cute shops and restaurants, grab some food/coffee etc), Kiyomizu temple (this is h ..read more

Hello. We (36F and 42M) booked our first Japan trip for 8/23-9/3. Here is our prelim skeleton itinerary.
While we haven’t figured out the exact activities for each city yet, we know that we don’t need to visit those super crowded and touristy spots, or need to hit every item on the agenda. Our main focus is finding bomb ass food and to have a chill experience in scenic environments, but at the same time we don’t mind a few nights of the busy night life in a concrete jungle.
So with that, we are looking to experience the hustle and bustle of Tokyo (staying at the Galois in Shinjuku) for the fi ..read more

Hi. This is the itinerary for 2 people (My gf and I), we plan to do this November starting Oct 28th. It’s our first time in Japan, first month-long trip and first multi-city trip, so I am still a bit overwhelmed with the planning. After quite a few changes we think we already have a good balance of the places we want to visit but would love some feedback in case we are making obvious mistakes. Some info, we would love to make the most out of the autumn season and see the foliage. We are big foodies and love japanese food so this will be a big part of our trip as well.
Day 1 Oct 28
We arrive a ..read more

Help. What else is there to do in Osaka that isnt shopping and eating in highly dense areas? I want to dedicate 3 days in Osaka.
My bestfriend's mother is coming with us. She's 65+ but she spends her retirement working on her farm so her physique is good. She is also a well traveled woman and have taken a lot of Senior Tours around the world. Hiked and climbed temples, all that.
But I dont know the range of her capacity and I'm the one making the itinerary. My friend is also cannot be reached right now so I cant ask for input and she expects me to present my itinerary proposal when she gets b ..read more

Intro
My wife and I are going to Japan for the first time for our honeymoon in July and are super excited! The outline of the trip is pretty well put together: we have our flights, hotels, and shinkansens booked. We have rough outlines of our day-to-day, though it's not super fleshed out (we figure it's best to leave flex time and not be so beholden to a minute-by-minute itinerary). While we feel pretty good about the schedule, I do wonder if we should make a dinner reservation or two. I'd like to treat my wife to a really awesome boujee meal while we're there (she loves sushi). Would love to ..read more

I’m in the midst of planning a 10 day trip to Japan later this year, and having some second thoughts.
Is 20 M 20 F too young to be going? I realize this is very subjective, just seeing if anyone has experience or advice with traveling there (or, anywhere internationally) at this age. For reference i’m coming from Central USA having only been outside the country for Niagara Falls, which is so barely.
Also, I read that in March, Japan saw the most visitors it’s had in a single month in history. I’d hate to add to the sleuths of people, when it’s not like the country’s going anywhere y’know?
I’v ..read more

I've combed through hundreds of trip reports and itineraries for trip inspiration, so hopefully my trip report could come in handy for a few people! Happy reading!
Background and notes:
First trip to Japan with my boyfriend and our first international trip as a couple. Japan has been a top destination for both of us. I'm an avid planner who has lots of anxiety about things not going right, and I typically like to plan fully packed days while my boyfriends is more go with the flow and likes to take his time to relax and enjoy the sights. I tried my best to find a happy medium for the both of u ..read more
