The Calm After The Storm
Normally, we hear the phrase ” the calm before the storm” to mean a period of peace before a crisis. Recently though, what is stuck in my mind is literally the calm AFTER the storm image of our boat safely back to its mooring after being aground(!!!) during the storm. It was with some disbelief that we saw her floating again and looking good the next day after the incident; when we expected the worse to happen because of complications that could arose if rescue boats or tug boat make a mistake in dragging it back to its mooring.
All our worries in the previous nigh ..read more

Double Rainbow
During rainy season, rainbows are a common sightings from the balcony of our seaside house. This time, we had two sightings in a week, of a full single rainbow and a double rainbow.
It is claimed that in Eastern culture, a DOUBLE RAINBOW symbolizes transformation and good fortune. Whatever it signifies, to us it is always a source of delight and flashes of inspiration that comes from momentary dying due to breath-holding on seeing an awesome panorama. My exaggeration doesn’t even compare to the range of emotions on actual experience during that moment. Or maybe, the ra ..read more

The year 2021 seems to have gone so fast for us. My husband and I have been busy getting back to our yachting lifestyle, we didn’t notice the time passing. At the start of the year we acquired a bigger yacht instead of just a small motorboat for island hopping, as planned. Some years ago we agreed to lay low on southeast Asia cruising and retire in a small island. Then the ‘pandemic’ happened that reconfigured what we thought was a well-laid out retirement plan for us. There were several factors that prompted us to go back to yachting lifestyle, mainly:
. Travel restrictions
. Quarantin ..read more

What is crab mentality? It is a human outlook patterned after the behavior of crabs trapped in a bucket. Imagine this…those hairy, sharp claws of crabs at the bottom, pulling down the crab that’s climbing up ahead to the top, to get out of ..read more

In my last post I wrote On the proposed Canadian plastics bans – Part 1: How the Government created useful “facts” for its scary headlines and how “facts” are being created, essentially out of thin air, to be used as activist talking points. The fight against plastics is a particularly fertile field for the development of […]

Fruits as medicine, when they can be used to allay or ease dis-ease.
Have you experienced having stomach discomforts when under pressure, stress or suffering from mild symptoms of gastritis or acid reflux? It’s that feeling of having a burning sensation in your stomach that may not be that painful but very uncomfortable. It’s easier to just buy over-the-counter medicines, keep them in your bag and pop the tablets into the mouth whenever this happens or pour the powder in water and drink it.
But, there’s a more delicious and much healthier way to ease your dis-ease, and that’s through fruits. F ..read more

What is an antacid? It is a mixture of substances that are intended to neutralize the increased acidity in the stomach (hyperacidity) or provide relief from acid reflux.
With the amount of multifaceted stress brought about by the pandemic, I’m sure many people, already feel the ‘heat’ in the stomach and the painful cramps. Eating too much acidic foods may also upset the stomach, as well as food allergy. That’s how it happens, with me (from time to time). Examples of OTC (over-the-counter) antacids to relieve these symptoms are:
Alka-seltzer
Tums
Maalox
Mylanta
Amphogel
Gaviscon
Gelusil

In the beginning, life in a small island in the Philippines is exciting as well as relaxing with the surrounding pristine sea, fresher air, stunning sunsets and rainbows. The small inconveniences that make the island living different from the urban are tolerable when you don’t stay in the island full-time. It is when you already start spending more time in the island that the constant inconveniences mount up to become real stressors. Among the major stressors is the frequent blackouts and brownouts which are brought about by the following factors:

I consider writing haiku as one of my re-creations for reasons mentioned in my RE-CREATION page. No moment is wasted when enjoyed mindfully and preserved through haiku.
Haiku is a poem style that has Japanese origin. Nowadays, it is commonly found written in English but still following the Japanese form that is composed of seventeen syllables, divided in three lines of five-seven-five (5-7-5). This type of poem is fitting in this site because traditionally haiku evokes images of the natural world.
