Since my son was born, it's been a tradition in our home to read daily. Naptime, bedtime, and pretty much whenever the mood strikes us, we read. This means two things:
1. I am always on the hunt for a well-written children's book.
2. We are running out of shelving in our home quickly.
When perusing for new children's books, I've found that Instagram can be a great place to get inspiration. However, not all accounts are created equal. I recently spoke with Megan Hartley (@ihaveabook4that) and Kimicia Byrd (@pretty_in_primary), both advocates fo ..read more

We are about to reach a full year since the pandemic started, and so much has changed. As time passes, the world we live in continues to adapt to the "new normal." Companies that previously had strict remote work policies or had never even thought about the possibility of remote work had to pivot almost overnight to allow their employees to work from home.
And guess what?
It's worked well for a lot of industries. Companies like Amazon, Aetna, Twitter, Zoom, Microsoft, and Shopify, decided to let their employees work from home indefinitely, as long as their role allows th ..read more

Since the start of the pandemic, I have been working from home while my son is also home. We were lucky to find a nanny for Ishaan soon after schools went virtual, but our new situation has been an adjustment for both Ishaan and me. While he gets a lot more Mommy face-to-face time now, sometimes it's hard for him to understand that even though I am home, I wear my Mommy hat at certain times and my lawyer hat at other times.
As a reviewer of children's li ..read more

February 14th is often called a Hallmark holiday, an arbitrary date on the calendar to up sales of chocolates and cheesy cards. And maybe it is. But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Life is busy, full of mundane lists, errands, and the ever-present motherload. If a date on the calendar makes us pause, reflect on our relationships, and show love, I say bring it on!
This Valentine's Day is different, though. It comes after 11 months of being holed up all day, every day with our partner, our kids, and the million and one feelings, fears, anxieties, and to-dos that hav ..read more

The average number of prenatal visits for an uncomplicated pregnancy is 14.
You will see your doctor 14 times as your body and mind prepare to give birth not only to your child but to your new identity as a mother. This may not seem like a large number in the grand scheme of creating a human. However, given proper medical care, an incredible amount of information is collected and covered at these appointments. From your first visit to your last, you and your baby's physical health will be closely monitored by a team of doctors. You'll be asked about ..read more
