His grace kept us from destruction in our fallen state and maintains us while we walk on the road to sanctification. God gives us his grace but walking in it is not something we always do. The only religion is one that's true. “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27 Strange fruit We've c ..read more

Just one wrong conviction

Conviction comes by way of the Holy Spirit. At least, this is how it should be. We often view conviction as something that happens when we do wrong while neglecting its outcome. The outcome should be a desire for right(eous) action. Actions that actually benefit our lives. God makes no mistakes so when he convicts us of an action, we have now essentially been commissioned to make the right call. Sometimes we choose otherwise. What do we call this decision? I would offer that we are now responding to wrong conviction. “And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto ..read more

How do you react when told you cannot have something? How do you react when told you cannot do something? When it comes to perceived oppression, the common response is "don't take that...fight back!", "fight the power!" or something along these lines. The idea that we should be able to just because. Entitlement without a cause. Elitism is a mentality. The mentality of self servitude intertwined with the fear of self sufficiency, built upon a controlled power structure. The result being the controlled demolition of others. Power is a drug and with all drugs, one can become addicted, willing to ..read more

Life beyond the party
Prodigal Redemptions

I come from a land full of happy people. We are home to the “greatest show on earth” as Carnival likes to brand itself. It's a time to express one's freedom. Over time, I’ve garnered that the opinion of outsiders looking in at us is that life is a never ending party. While this was not a life I was entirely immersed in, it is a common portrayal. A picture can tell a story but it may not always tell the whole story. “Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, th ..read more
