The Course The Houston Open dates back to 1946, and has seen winners such as Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, and Phil Mickelson. It’s been held at several different courses over the years, but returned to Memorial Park in 2020 (Memorial Park was also the venue in 1947 and then from 1951-1963). We’re on the second straight week of golf tournaments that no one is really excited for, but we’re not going to let that stop us from rerouting money from Las Vegas into our bank accounts. The Top Tier golfers cost a fortune this week, so I decided to go with another approach. This lineup may ne lacking in big names, but it’s not lacking in talent. Salaries listed below are from DraftKings. Tom Hoge ($9,500) – Hoge has yet to miss a cut in 4 tournaments this season, and he’s already had 2 Top 10 finishes. His worst finish to date was 13th at the CJ Cup. Hoge has made 5/7 cuts throughout his career at El Camaleon, but he’s certainly in better form this season that he has been in some prior years. Players to Watch Taylor Montgomery (+2,800/$9,600): Taylor earned his Tour card last year on the KFT, and has made 4 starts so far this season and hasn’t finished outside of the Top-15 yet. After I published my picks last week, one of my golfers, Peter Malnati, withdrew from the event. Rather than using that to totally readjust my lineup, I simply swapped out Malnati for another golfer valued at $7,200. What a mistake that ended up being.
