8 Top Bottle Shops in the Cincinnati Area You’re Going to Want to Know About

The Bottle Shop: Our unsung heroes of the craft kingdom Bottle Shops, what are these? Imagine you’re new to craft beer and want to broaden your horizons. Maybe you can’t get enough of those ultra-popular juicy IPAs and want to try as many as you can? So you head over to the gas station? Ok maybe a few options, and check those dates by the way. Liquor store? Depends, but often times they either focus on just the same local brands they have over at Kroger OR just the major distributed regional craft brands, or even that weird mix of both; this is a large variable. Unless of course we’re talking ..read more

Rhinegeist String Theory: Funky Blonde Barrel Aged Ale (2018)

“Born from Chaos, mastered by science” Whenever Brett comes to the party nobody knows exactly what he’s going to do. He’s a wild animal, so expect a funky night. Brettanomyces that is, a wild strand of yeast that can test brewers skill set. It can be your best friend or your worst enemy, after all that’s the risk vs reward right? Many of us are used to Rhinegeist’s powerhouse IPAs, but have you been paying attention to their cellar program? It’s currently filled with bold barrels aged stout to funky sours and everything in-between, one of my favorite sections to browse, you’ll want to too. S ..read more

Streetside Brewing + Holtmans Donuts Robe - Red Velvet Cake Pastry Stout

Pictured on the can: My face when when I see this on the shelf. Streetside sought out the bad boys in the Cincinnati donut game, Holtmans. This has become a winter tradition collaboration with the local famed donut shop. Streetside’s well blended sweet stout meets a whole bunch of Holtman Red Velvet Cake donuts to make one super drinkable addictive stout! The beer: Pours a distilled jet-black, no head to be found. The sweet aroma of cream and cake were overflowing out of the glass. Ever go into your favorite neighborhood donut shop, no not a gas station, and pick a nice chocolate cake donut f ..read more

Listermann Brewing/Bhramari Brewing Above the Clouds IPA with skittles Review

Did you expect anything else from Listermann? We knew it was coming. SKITTLES! Taste the rainbow indeed. Listermann and Bhramari had to do it. I think we’re getting close to the end of things the Norwood brewery can throw into their brews. Actually on second thought I hope not. This killer collab featured skittles, El Dorado and Idaho Gem hops, key limes, tangerines and cherries! Oh MY! Listermann IPAs are always an adventure and this is no different. Hoppy, tangy, hazy and of course stupidly juicy! And check out that killer can art! The beer: Pours an awesome hazy deep orange, which lures yo ..read more

Vienna Lager by West Side Brewing Review

Meet my favorite drinkware at the moment, however doesn’t necessarily echo the sentiments of the Lager inside though. Despite only being on year two of my west side tenure, I feel at home in such a great community here. West side brewing is your local tight knit community micro-brewery focusing on stellar German traditional beers; a refreshing curveball to the trend of bold takes on top of crossovers. As the famous saying goes, you don’t know where you’re headed if you forget where you’ve been. Not to mention it takes a surprising amount of skill to consistently crank out these German favs. T ..read more

Seymour and Super Nintendo Chalmers eating Skyline blissfully while somewhere the Bengals are down by two touchdowns And we’re back! You all look fantastic Cincinnati. I’ve got a feeling this is the best one yet as we edge closer to Christmas. This particular edition of the round up is sponsored by the color gold (I really wish I could make that the color gold, I just can’t figure it out). Surely you know by now that Cincinnati SHOWED UP in the US Beer Open Championship! A huge shout out to all of our talented brewers in the city, and of course congrats to Narrow Path Brewing in Loveland Finis ..read more

Rolling Mill Brewing is Carving their Own Gluten Free Niche in Middletown
Cincy by the Pint

Don’t call them a specialty brewery though, they just want to brew great beer with no wheat, rye, or barley. Rolling Mill Brewing Company on 1st Ave in Downtown Middletown This isn’t just a story of a brewery, it’s a story of so much more than that. It’s the story of an American dream, the story of survival in uncertain times and incredibly hard work. It’s a story of a man and brewmaster who works 50+ hours a week at his “day job,” only to put on his brewer hat afterwards, one he’s just as passionate to wear as any other brewmaster. Yes that’s right, an American dream that’s alive and well in ..read more
