Two Weeks Away, Two Days Winning: Recharged and Ready to Roll Just got back from a two-week vacay in Japan. I had to push my trader duties to the side for Monday and Tuesday when I came back because my flight didn’t land in Singapore until late Tuesday night. It’s funny how taking a break from work actually makes me want to dive back in even more. I don’t just work for the paycheck, you know? It’s something that keeps me busy and gives me a sense of purpose. And guess what? My vacay timing was pretty sweet, especially when you look at how the market played out after I got back. I scored two da ..read more

Being Stubborn

Trading is one of the most difficult craft to master for me. Recently I was talking to my friend, and the feedback was me being stubborn despite not having good result, why not go work on other stuffs first. Such feedback while well intentioned, can potentially swirl our focus. But being “stubborn” has generally worked well for my work, especially whenever I’m trying to go off a beaten track. Back in the University, I always strive to solve problems and projects with my own unique twist. However, a lot of times it can be very stressful when others are progressing well by doing what others are ..read more

How I stumbled upon trading

My First Trade 2009 Well, I took my first trade when I was 19. Think the legal age to open a brokerage account in Singapore was 18. Back then I was still serving the army. As with most people, I don’t have much knowledge about investing or trading back then. There was no strategies or risk management. The first stock I bought was Genting Singapore Ltd, listed on the Singapore Exchange. Well, buy what you know as the saying goes. The stock probably had an unrealized loss of $200 at one point. As soon as the price climbed back up, I closed for a small profit of $50. What a “great” risk:reward as ..read more

It’s been awhile since my last post. Been through many changes during this period of time. Most importantly, I was trying to refine my focus and direction of my work. As you would have known this site as a place for investment analyses. Moving forward, it will be more of a log for my trading. It’ll be less technical, and perhaps more personal. Things I’ve experiemented as I try to navigate life and work. What I’ve learned and the mistakes I’ve made. Hopefully the ideas and resources that I share along the way can be of values to you, whether in the areas of trading & investment, work or li ..read more

Hey friends, today I want to share one important thing from Warren Buffett strategy of investing you should not follow. Perhaps like many of you, you have someone or somebody who inspired you to start investing. I’m sure Warren Buffett is one such figure that most of us come across. Today we will be going through Gaia stock review. When we talk about on-demand video streaming, the first company that comes to mind will probably be Netflix. Followed by Disney+, Discovery etc. But today we want to look at this much smaller niche video streaming company – Gaia. Why Share Price Is Depressed Source: Yahoo Finance Gaia Inc / Stock Summary The company’s share price has been trading sideways for the past year. I think there’s a few reasons why Gaia’s valuation remained depressed despite showing growth at double digits. First, it is a microcap company, and has been making losses f ..read more

Hey friends, I want to share with you in this Natuzzi stock review, why the company is undervalued currently. Despite its strong run up by more than 10x over the past 1.5 years to about US$18 a share currently. I see there’s still potentially up to 100% – 200% upside. So, here’s why. I will not go through in detail, but just a few main pointers that I think are important. Business Overview Ok, first, what does the company do? Very briefly, Natuzzi is a luxury furniture brand in Italy with over 60 years of history. The company has a strong presence in Europe. But it has presence in the U.S and ..read more

Hey friends, we see that Charlie Munger buys Alibaba again, increasing his stake by another 83%. This is based on the latest filing by Daily Journal. Personally I have a portion of my portfolio in the company as well. So, the recent decline in Alibaba’s share price is definitely not easy to sit on. So who’s right? Munger or Mr Market? Well, only time will tell. For now, I’m sticking with Munger. Let me share with you why. Well, I will not go through the economics or financials of Alibaba in detail today. I have done a more thorough review of the company in my previous posts. One that gives a d ..read more

Organon Stock Review – The Overlooked Merck Spinoff

In this Organon stock review, we see why the company is worth examining. It first came to my radar when I looked at Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway’s portfolio recently. This pharmaceutical company is a spin-off of Merck & Co, that just began trading in June 2021. Since Berkshire owns Merck, it inherited shares of Organon from the spin-off. However, since its debut in the stock exchange, its activity has been pretty muted to date.
