On October 10th a massive solar storm hit earth, visible auroras all over Europe and the US. In Iceland we saw the start of it around 21.00h... looking south. For a few hours the lights were out with astonishing colors, predominantly red and pink, visible with the naked eye. Northern lights season started with a bang in Iceland and worldwide. Beautiful displays for days on end, with a few nights a chance to see an overhead corona. When activity is very strong this sometimes causes the rays or rayed bands to converge into one point where they form a corona. The crown of the northern lights.
