On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at around 9:00 P.M. Oxnard police officers responded to the area of Date Street and Pine Street regarding a shooting that had just occurred. On Friday, April 19th, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) observed a juvenile, documented criminal street gang member in a parked vehicle. Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Cameron Scott Lykins, a 28-year-old man from Ojai, pled guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter for the death of his friend, Houston Auer.
