The Portland Timbers fought back from a few deficits, but never found the late equalizer, and ended up on the short end of a 3-2 result against the Los Angeles Galaxy.  Jonathan Rodríguez and Santiago Moreno would score for the Timbers, while Gabriel Pec, Riqui Puig, and Joseph Paintsil would score for the hosts. The host Galaxy had some good early chances, but were kept out of the Timbers net by good saves by James Pantemis, probably the best being in the 24th minute when a blast from Gabriel Pec was tipped just past the post.  In the 30th minute Santiago Moreno had a surprising cha ..read more

The Portland Timbers had a very strong performance against Western Conference leaders Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Providence Park, with Felipe Mora, Santiago Moreno, and Evander all scoring in a convincing 3-0 victory for the Timbers. At just the two minute mark of the match, the Timbers were on the board when Santiago Moreno fought off some very physical marking near the end line at the corner of the box, and then beat his defender cleanly and fed a nice pass into the box to Felipe Mora who one-timed the shot past a stunned goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Both teams had reasonably good c ..read more

The Portland Timbers did score three goals against the hosts two in Dallas on a very warm evening of the 4th, but unfortunately one was into their own net, and they ended up at the short end of a 3-2 score.  Antony and Evander had the goals for the Timbers along with an own goal by Cristhian Paredes, and Petar Musa and Nkosi Tafari would add goals for the hosts. Evander had a good shot just seconds into the match, but it was pushed wide by Maarten Paes. In just the eighth minute, the Timbers would be on the board when Evander (who was deep on the Timbers back-line at the time) played a ve ..read more

Members of the Timbers and Thorns, including retired players, and coaches at times, took part in a wild, hugely entertaining charity match on Wednesday night at Providence Park.  Former Timbers Diego Valeri, Jack Jewsbury, and Vytas took part, as well as many T2, Timbers academy, and Thorns II players also took part, often at the same time.  It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved, on the pitch and in the stands. In just the third minute the Timbers had a good chance when Antony led a break with Jonathan Rodríguez, but the pass was a bit behind and Rodríguez ended up having his shot saved nicely by Roman Bürki.  In the 17th minute, the hosts would have a great breakaway chance on a nice lead pass into the run of Hosei Kijima, but Timbers goalkeeper James Pantemis did a nice job of charging out of his box and clearing the threat at the last second.  Shor ..read more
