FC Cincinnati’s first Western Conference opponent of the season, the Colorado Rapids, came into TQL riding a red-hot start. After 90-plus minutes, the Orange and Blue dowsed the opposition’s run of form to the tune of a 2-1 victory. The match started with both sides coming out firing. In the second minute, Keegan Rosenberry got free in the box from a corner but was unable to direct the ball down on frame. Yuya Kubo took a hopeful stab at goal in the fifth minute, but Rapids keeper Zack Steffen was able to make a comfortable save. The 16th minute is where things got even more chaotic. MLS Wager Watch – Can the LA Teams Deliver For Us?

This league is something else. It’s almost May, and I can’t tell you which teams are good. Of course, this is exactly what MLS wants, so it’s also not a total shock. It makes it really difficult to handicap and pick games each week, though. I didn’t see FC Cincinnati and Austin FC going on the road and getting wins. Meanwhile, the one pick we got right last week, the LA Galaxy, did their best to squander a 3-0 first-half lead and held on to a 4-3 despite playing with 10 men in the second half. Is the Galaxy good? They are at the top of the Western Conference, so I guess you can say that. They ..read more

FCC looks to continue form against Colorado Rapids

Just over a quarter of the way through the season, it feels odd previewing a team by their offseason. But no team had as dramatic of an offseason as THE RAPIDS did coming into 2024. In 2021, the Colorado Rapids were the top of the Western Conference and had the second most points in the league. Afterward, their youngsters were sold to European teams, their veteran leadership was struck with long-term injuries and their front office elected to fill the squad, not with exciting players, but with bargain contracts that other teams from MLS no longer wanted. It resulted in the team finishing dead ..read more

Luca and Lucho lead FC Cincinnati past Atlanta
Cincinnati Soccer Talk | Everything Soccer in the Queen City

In a game that was defined by streaks, FC Cincinnati was more interested in breaking them than keeping them going. Heading into the game, Atlanta United were unbeaten at home in 2024 and had been unbeaten in their last nine games on turf.  Those were all broken with FCC coming away with a 2-1 victory in Atlanta. The first half offered many chances, but no one finishing them. Both teams sensed they could use their attacking options to create opportunities for quick direct actions and it was Atlanta proving things right. In the 59th minute, Thiago Almada received the ball at the top of the ..read more

FCC looks to find footing against Atlanta United

FC Cincinnati will look to find some solid ground after a streak of disappointing results when the team travels to Atlanta for a matchup against the Five Stripes. FCC is currently in the throes of a three-match winless streak, with two of those matches being losses to New York Red Bulls and CF Montreal. For the vast majority of the season, FCC has looked beyond anemic on offense but usually great on defense. Concerning the former, nothing has changed lately, and it has even seemed to get worse. Nobody is passing the ball to striker Aaron Boupendza even though he looks to be getting into some d ..read more

Last week, I got up off the canvas and bounced back with an even week. I felt very strongly that Columbus wouldn’t win in Salt Lake City. Their scoreless draw meant our bet was voided. Charlotte came away with a win in a high-scoring contest. We’re heading into Matchday 10, nearly a third of the season gone, and we’re still learning about these teams each week. Even though I’m down 10 units, there’s still plenty of time to dig out of this hole. Weekend Results: 1-1-1, down 0.7 units Year-to-Date: 5-13-2 down 10.1 units.
