How do we Build our Mental Health? In a previous blog, we have already discussed what is Mental Health. Lets recap: What actually is Mental health? Since the start of the Corona virus and the opening of lockdowns all over the world, the topic of mental health of sportspersons has taken the spotlight. Top international sportspersons in Tennis, Athletics, Gymnastics and in fact in all sports have spoken out, about how badly they have been affected. The Olympics-2020 being now held in Japan, has brought to the forefront once again the topic of mental health. Mental health seems to be taking too much of a toll on sportspersons. Sportspersons must learn to use the Mind as an instrument. Like using any instrument, such as a tennis racquet, cricket bat, golf club or your hands to throw a touchdown or legs to kick a football or your body to do gymnastics. So the instrument could be a racquet, or a bat or a golf club, which the hands use to perform an action, or the hands themselves which are used to throw a touch down pass or the legs to kick a ball or the body which is used to perform intricate gymnastic routines. All sportspersons are actually sure that to be successful the word ‘Discipline’ must be carved into stone. ‘Discipline’ has got several meanings, but here I am using the word ‘Discipline’ in a particular sense.
