5 Reasons Why You Need an Air Rifle in 2024

About 110,000,000 people have been born in the US in the last 25 years. I’ve heard that using statistics and figures is a good attention getting technique in public speaking and essay writing. However, I cannot correlate that sum with any pertinent fact in regard to airgunning. Now that I have your attention (or don’t– whatever) I need to lay down the logic on why you need an airgun in 2024.    Reason 1: Firearm ammo is not getting cheaper     Ok, yes, the ammo market has leveled off in price and it does appear to be stable at the moment. But we all know that ammo availabi ..read more

How do you like to measure power?  For me it depends on what you are talking about. If we are talking about lightbulbs, watts or watt equivalent will let me know how much light output to expect from that bulb. If it is an internal combustion engine, then horsepower and torque help tell the story for me. But when it comes to guns, from firearms to airguns, there are two common ways to describe power output and, depending on where you are from, one might be more common than the other.    For triggered devices we must return to some simple high-school physics for guidance. The cruc ..read more

(This blog was originally published on our T4E Training Marker Website in June of 2023)     If today’s uncertain environment has taught us anything it’s that there’s certainly no shortage of people who, not speaking to their motivation, have no compunction against opening fire on (presumably) unarmed people. While the most common scenario is for such an incident to occur at a public school, it is not unheard of that homicidal violence is unleashed on a church or other house of worship.   As these events have happened, some very smart people have unified under a common goal– pre ..read more

Are Spring and Gas Piston Air Rifles Inaccurate?
Umarex USA Blog
by

Spring and Gas Piston air rifles generate two distinct recoil impulses during a shot. The first one occurs before the pellet starts moving and the spring or gas ram has been released by the trigger. The piston assembly moves forward rapidly and compresses the air inside of the cylinder, creating the air charge that launches the pellet. While the pellet is still in the barrel, the piston assembly comes to a very sudden and abrupt halt. If the rifle is being held in a gun vise or even braced against your skeleton too harshly, the recoil impulses will bounce off of those hard surfaces and travel ..read more

What Kind of Scope Can I Put on my Spring or Gas Piston Air Rifle?

Springers, including Gas-Piston Air Rifles, are unique in the shooting world.  They operate by releasing a spring that is capped with a piston and seal.  This assembly instantly compresses the volume of air that is resting in the piston cylinder. This whole process happens very quickly but with a little practice you can become aware of the distinctive two-way impulse. The first impulse comes from the release of the spring and piston assembly. The second impulse occurs when the piston assembly comes to a stop at the end of the cylinder.  The first impulse is not all that signific ..read more

Umarex is Headed to Phoenix!

The desert is evidently where it’s at. At least it is in the spring of the year and you are in the Phoenix area.  For real, there’s over two million people that live in the Phoenix/Tucson area.  There must be some sort of draw to get so many people to huddle together in the middle of the desert (insert leaving California joke here).  While I may not understand the subtleties and draw of desert southwest living, I do understand the draw of the outdoors, wherever you happen to hang your hat. An event like this is a wonderful opportunity for a manufacturer or retailer to talk to th ..read more

Well the cat is out of the bag at this point. We’ve been in Vegas for the past week along with the entire Shooting Sports industry talking about our new gear that is slated for release this year. We’ve also been jawing with some of our favorite content creators like Airgun Detectives, The Dollar Sportsman, Cory Brossman, Airgun Hobbyist, and Tom Claycomb. It was great, it was loud, it was fun, and it is over.    There’s a sweet, relaxing feeling when nearly 96 hours of constant noise, lights, and activity come to a halt. This feeling fleeting as what usually follows is 12 sweet hours ..read more

It is that time of the year again.  And sorry for dating myself with the Ed Sullivan allusion. The Umarex crew will be headed out to the desert for the 2024 National Shooting Sports Foundation SHOT Show soon. In case you are looking for a leak on new stuff, I am sorry, but you will have to wait just a little bit longer. I know, such a disappointment.    In the way of a teaser, yes, we will have a few new items to show, like we always do.  We really look forward to meeting with our retail and media friends, and by extension this does connect us to you, our ..read more

The new year is here and so are we.  We hope all of you have had a great Holiday season and are prepared to embrace the next 10-12 weeks of bitter cold, snow, ice, and generally yuck weather until April and Spring rescue us.  We thought this would be a great time to remind you of our Loyalty Points program that we launched late last summer. We’ve been seeing some of those points stack up in our customer’s accounts and that is encouraging.   Unlike some other reward points programs, our reward points do not expire. What this means is that instead of waiting for a sale or di ..read more
