Click on the photo below to see our final video.  The bicycle trip is complete and we have 12,750 miles of adventure behind us.  It is hard to believe we did it and were able to complete it in a year of COVID.  We have friends now encircling the USA and we are rich in memories and experiences.  Thank you to all who took care of us on the road, and those who encouraged us by social media.  We are so blessed and thankful! Click on the photo below to watch our fun adventures in the Pacific Northwest by bicycle.  The rugged coast didn’t disappoint, and the rain tested our determination.  Water ran high in the rivers, down the mountains in waterfalls, and from the sky in downpours.  It all added up to an incredible time! California Coast

We have cycled through the very huge state of California for 28 days.  We entered from southern AZ and came over the mountain to San Diago.  Then we followed Hwy 101 up the coast.  We followed the southern beaches, then the cliffs and rocky shores, and finally the magnificent redwood forests of northern California.  We camped along the shores and rarely had WiFi, so this blog has been silent, but the cycling has been busy.  It is hard to put into words or photos the beauty we have taken in.  Thank you, California for being unexpectantly wild and picturesque! Ride with us as we bicycle tour through the desert and down to the coast of Southern California on The Road Less Cycled.  It has been hot and dry but is beautiful and wild at the same time.  We fell in love with it but wanted to escape from it…how paradoxical!  What a challenge!  Click on the picture link below to watch the video. We have lots of hours to watch the same treeless mountain peaks come closer as we pedal westward.  The landscape is big and raw, wild and dangerous.  If I did not have the ribbon of highway to follow through this terrain, I would be doomed to die of thirst.  Everything surrounding us has thorns or prickles.  The sand blows into dusty mounds around any bush defying grass to grow.  We have not seen any wildlife except a lonely buzzard circling us which can be a little nerve-wracking. How did the pioneers make it through here? The people we have met as we cycle through ar ..read more

Escaping the Cold!

We are following the weather forecast along our perimeter cycling route…it is cold!! We are happy to tell you that we are not cycling through snow in Texas but instead are basking in the sun in the Bahamas. So you thought this was a cycling blog? Yes, we are still on target, but we keep taking these side trip adventures. Some of you know that we are both nurses and have taken two side trips to volunteer as nurses through Samaritans Purse in the Covid crisis. After returning from working night shift in California, we cycled for three days and then once again stored our bikes. This time the bik ..read more
