As Salam Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah, Dear Readers, We learn with the passage of time that happiness is something that doesn’t always come to us without any effort, we must make a conscious effort towards being happy. At this moment in time, how grateful we should be that we are of the educated percentage of the world. We underestimate this colossal blessing, only this morning someone asked me what the time was because she could not read. We need to cut out being grumpy. We need to be grateful and STOP complaining. Just enjoy the blessed time that Allah has given us. It is so easy to be Muslim. We ..read more

Yes, it is the month of Dhul Hijjah and we are trying our best to reform ourselves. Insha Allah. It is the third day of Dhul Hijjah. I wish that we could connect ourselves more with the Islamic months as this seems to bring us closer to the guidance of Allah. Dhul Hijjah, what a beautiful name! It means Master of the Pilgrimage, or Possessor of the Pilgrimage. Our beautiful, Islamic, Arabic names of the months of the year represent so much in terms of how to stay connected with Allah. Sadly, we often overlook this great blessing, isn’t it time we tried to use the Hijri calendar more? This is ..read more

As Salam Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah, Dearest Readers, Today by the Grace of Allah is the first day of Dhul Hijjah. Aren’t we extremely fortunate for being able to enter this beautiful blessed month and day? Subhan Allah, we are alive and are not in our graves, or resting places. Al- Hamdulillah we have eyes to read. I was just thinking about the possible good deeds that we could try to do consciously today. The hustle and bustle of the daily household tasks, and working for a living, sometimes fuzzes our day and mind. Don’t you usually feel that we just want to get through the day? This is where ..read more

My Pearls…
The Treasures of Good Deeds

One summer, a few years ago, I planned to visit my aunt in Paris. At the time I was in Madinah and had decided to buy a pearl necklace for her. She was my maternal aunt and she was a good friend, too. I went into one of the malls and bought a lovely string of pearls with matching earrings. Standing there at the shop counter, I decided to buy myself a set of freshwater pearls, too. I knew that it wasn’t very often that I would be visiting Madinah and Madinah is well known for the beautiful gold and pearls its merchants sell to its visitors from all over the world who come to visit the blessed ..read more

I hope that you like the flowers that I am sending you. I took this photograph myself yesterday morning when I went to the neighborhood park. I had the intention of sending these flowers to you the next time I would write on this blog. I really hope that you like them. Please look closely at the flowers, observe the flowers within the flowers, the tiny orangey flowers in the center of the flowers- well, that’s you and me. These are handpicked especially for my dearest readers. I have always been charmed by flowers and I love them the most after I love my children. I never wait to be given flo ..read more

Be Gentle…

Photo by Secret Garden on Pexels.com to yourself. The first person that we need to be kind to is ourselves. If we are gentle towards our own hearts and souls and are able to analyze ourselves, know our strengths and weaknesses and recognize when and why we are at our lowest, we can begin to address solving the issues that disturb us. This ultimately leads to being kinder and more forgiving to ourselves. We are usually in a bubble telling us to forgive others and forget any unkindness done to us. However it is vitally important to forgive ourselves for any mistakes we have made. Life runs smoot ..read more

Photo by Noah on Pexels.com When we look around and see poverty, we learn many lessons. We learn to be grateful for what we have. We learn how to use our things properly. We learn not to waste food and water. We learn to keep our clothes in good condition for as long as we can. Everything we have is a special blessing from Allah and for each material object we will have to give an account for. There are many poor people who live in temporary shelters or tents. When it rains, the children get wet and feel cold and sick. Many poor people do not have access to clean water, electricity or gas. The ..read more

A cat followed me to my apartment…
The Treasures of Good Deeds

A few days ago, I went out to the entrance of my building for a few moments and I noticed a stray cat leaving the building too. She wasn’t afraid of me and walked comfortably alongside of me. Her presence awakened my conscience, I asked myself whether there was there any milk in the fridge. I then looked at her closely, it was clear that she was still a growing cat. She wasn’t a kitten or a fully grown cat, she was in between. Hm… I thought, she’s leaving the building, how can I communicate with her and tell her to wait so that I could go and get some milk for her. I requested her to follow me ..read more
