Chamath’s Picks for Watches and Wonders 2024
Watch Advice

Now that the dust has settled on the Watches and Wonders and I have had some time to think about all the watches I had the pleasure of handling, let’s see what stood out for me. This year’s fair was all about complicated pieces. Well, for me, at least, it felt that way. As expected, the showcase booths did not disappoint, especially from brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Van Cleef and Arpels, Ulysse Nardin, A. Lange & Sohne, to name a few.  Cartier Santos Dumont “Rewind” Cartier Showcased some great-looking watches during the fair, and while they had some show-stoppers, my pick fr ..read more

Back in Australia, I can now look back at the week and a half in Geneva and think about what were my top watch releases at this year’s Watches & Wonders. Now that I’m back in Australia after a whirlwind week and a half in Geneva, not to mention canceled and delayed flights thanks to the flooding in Dubai, I’ve had a little bit of time to reflect on the experience and the watches that the brands released. It was pretty evident that this year was the year of high complications, and a fair amount of the exhibiting brands did just this – release some stunning pieces with equally stunning price ..read more

From undesirable to undeniable – the last two years have seen Raymond Weil on the warpath to a new legacy. But awards and accolades can only say so much, so I’ve decided to look at the Millesime for myself. Is it worthy of the reputation that precedes it? Let’s find out! What We Love: Every design element feels exceptionally thought-out Appears larger than on paper, but wears comfortably and true to size A spec & design monster for the price point What We Don’t: Some design elements feel slightly unnecessary Lack of a date can bug some people Would have liked a more finished movement ..read more

Two new versions of the Daytona were presented at Watches & Wonders 2024, both in 18-carat white gold cases and Mother-of-Pearl-Dials. For Watches & Wonders releases every year, Rolex likes to give one of the collections a luxury makeover. At Watches & Wonders 2023, the Day-Date 36 had a diamond set bezel and hour indices, along with a glittering new gem set green dial. During the 2022 event, the brand decided to completely change the look of the Datejust with a flower-patterned dial with the pistil of the flower being diamond set, while also giving the Yacht-Master a gem-set look ..read more

Rolex’s Newest Deepsea is Bold in Gold
Watch Advice

Unveiled at this year’s Watches and Wonders, I have no words for this latest Rolex Deepsea reference. Okay, that’s a lie. Obviously, I have words for it; otherwise, I wouldn’t be writing this article. But I would bet my bottom dollar that this wasn’t on your Rolex release bingo card. The Submariner’s younger and chunkier brother has pervaded the brand’s lineup since 2008. The Deepsea collection was purpose-built to cater to the needs of extreme and professional divers, and those of us of the larger-wristed sort.  For Watches and Wonders 2024, the Deepsea has been given an ostentatious mak ..read more

“Hold on,” you might be thinking to yourself. “The fashion house? They make watches?” Yes, they do – and they make them pretty well. Chanel’s masterful Monsieur Superleggera is back for Watches and Wonders 2024, now in a Limited Edition of 100 pieces. For the unfamiliar, a million thoughts must be flooding your mind.
