I dream of one day being able to dive and swim in the tropical oceans and explore the coral reefs of Australia. I would love to help preserve the reefs and learn more about our ocean animals. But by the time I am a grown up, will it be too late? In the past 5 decades we have seen many incidents of widespread coral bleaching events on many of the world's coral reefs. At the moment climate change and coral bleaching is the biggest threat to our Great Barrier Reef and many more reefs. The reefs needs our help whilst there's still time. What is Coral Bleaching? Coral bleaching happens when the wa ..read more

Written By Jasmine (My Sister) Who doesn’t love a good coffee? Every morning at 8:30 Dad HAS to have his coffee. We walk together to our favourite coffee shop and sit outside and wait. I watch 15 people walk out with paper cups, stand around chatting and then throw their cup into an overflowing rubbish bin. I start to think about the whole of Melbourne . . the whole of Australia . . . and how many cups are being thrown into the rubbish each day. So I did some research. Australians throw out 2.7 million coffee cups every single day. This adds up to 1 billion cups a year for Australians and 16 ..read more

Image from ABC news Imagine living on this A4 piece of paper for your whole life. It's not actually a piece of paper, it’s a wire cage, hundreds of them stacked on top of each other, in rows in giant sheds with no sunlight . . . This is the tragic life of a battery hen. Battery cages were first introduced to Australia in the 1950’s and even though people are aware of them, not much has changed. Currently in Australia there is approx. 11 million battery hens! Sighing, I bent down to pick up what felt like the millionth piece of rubbish. Another Macca's cup! On a warm sunny morning on the school holidays, Mum, Jas and I went for a walk/scooter to the river for a swim and decided to pick up all the rubbish along the way. I was surprised at how many big rubbish bags we needed! We collected 4 garbage bags of rubbish, mostly McDonalds packaging, bottles and bits of styrofoam. This was collected just off Riverina highway in Albury NSW and now a couple of months later it's already filled with rubbish again. I feel really frustrated! Why can't people just ..read more
