The summer brings out the mosaic in me and I’m back to breaking glass, plates, etc. My teenage son bought these plates at Goodwill as a Christmas gift for me because he knows my love for breaking and creating things. This is how I’ve decided to use them.

Shattered
Loneliness
It drags on for days
and sleepless nights
In emptiness
In silence
In the grey
Engulfing my spirit
with it’s frigid
and unwelcoming
But all too familiar arms
As I mourn
wilt
in the dark corner
of it’s embrace,
AndIcannotbreathe.
I cannot breathe!
I can’t breathe!
Can’t breathe
Can’t.

There a park of mosaic art about 30 to 60 minutes (depending on traffic) from where I live. It isn’t very big at all, but if you love art and detail you can spend a couple of hours at the park finding smaller pieces of art within bigger pieces of art. You need to look at the big picture then get close, real close and see what it’s made of. It put a smile on my face.
I would love to be a part of project like this. How do you even sign up ..read more

If you ask me for my favorite color, breakfast, food, movie, book, author, season, song, number, place, person, and so on you might be frustrated with my answer. I don’t have a favorite and even if I do it is only for a short amount of time. I like to dabble in everything, try it all, taste it all, see it all and tell you what I like about it but it won’t be my favorite because my mood or taste may change tommorow when I try something else and that something else brings me just as much joy or emotion. And as I age and my experiences mold me my interests change. So, when I say my favorite is al ..read more

Coming up with ideas for a mosaic project is not a problem. I don’t even think my problem is that I have too many ideas. I have hundreds of them constantly invading my mind. My problem is that I can’t let go. I cannot finish my projects, not easily anyways. I’ve begun watching YouTube videos again, scrolling through mosaic Instagram photos and reading books for inspiration or to learn new techniques and I am frustrated with the options. There are so many “how to” create and start mosaic resources to turn to but so few instructions on how to finish them because it isn’t as simple as just applyi ..read more

Earlier last month I came across some thrifty finds that left me with a bounty of ceramic and glass tile as well as broken jewelry. I’ve spent the beginning of this month working on putting it together. It has put my mind at easy and my posture in particularly painful positions ..read more

Early this summer I took an overwhelmed looked at my kitchen and realized I would be forced to repair/renovate it, despite the cost. The original 1977 poorly built kitchen was coming apart fast. Drawers were broken or missing from the the bottom cabinets. The kitchen Formica counter top was not only warped, but also chipping at the edges, causing multiple unpleasant problems I do not wish to go into detail about. I had hoped the kitchen would hold out long enough so that I could save enough money to rebuild the kitchen the way I wanted, but I realized that would not happen. I wouldn’t have eno ..read more

It isn’t fair to the lactose intolerant person to watch everyone else eat ice cream. This was the thought that crossed my mind this summer in search for a tasty ice cream dairy alternative for my lactose intolerant daughter. We tried a few different dairy treats, but the ones from So Delicious became my favorite. They truly are so delicious. The light smooth flavor blew my mind. It has a hint of coconut that sits just right on my taste buds. They are a bit on the small side and a bit more expensive than the average-sized milk made ice cream sandwiches, but they are packed with flavor and well ..read more
