“The major thing I was happy about with Archangel’s Light by Nalini Singh was that it didn’t feel as if I was reading a cheap, rushed, or entirely new series.”

Thank you so much for tuning in for my August 2020 Life Recap. I’ll try to succinctly express the highlights of August, but I know I’ll forget some things.
Life is a strange thing. You try to navigate the winding roads and then you turn around a blind curve and BOOM.
From there you find yourself among a seemingly uncharted landscape. But, looking closer you recognize the marking of others who have traveled this way before you.
Okay, enough with being melodramatic. LOL!
The visualization is similar to the realization I came to near the end of August. Understanding that the struggles and challe ..read more

I’m excited about explaining the 5 Ways I Tried To Social Distance This Week, lol. The last time I blogged a Sunday Weekly Post I think it was about Leap Year Day?
Since the last post, I enjoyed the layout and general direction I went with for this weekly post. But since I’m never consistent – or enthusiastic about – writing those posts I’m faking it until I make it.
1st Way I Tried To Social Distance: Monday, April 13th
Monday wasn’t all that eventful for me.
With a Stay-At-Home order placed here in Missouri, I’m probably not the only one who’s not been too productive.
I was able to get a boo ..read more

We can countdown to Leap Year Day 2020 and the first of March all in one week! Maybe 2020 isn’t completely trash?!
I’m not even going to lament on the fact that I missed a few weeks since my first. I’m just going to celebrate the fact that I’m here with post number 2.
This week wasn’t really eventful. It was more or less a week of self-reflection and checking myself on certain things. I won’t go into too much detail since I’m still working things out in my head. I have some new directions and decisions to make some time in the near future that I’m really grappling with.
This week also wasn’t a ..read more

Why O why was I so hesitant to read Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley before now?!
It sometimes seriously sucks that I’m such an emotional reader because the reading procrastination is real.
Fire Inside was more of a contemporary romance than a mot ..read more

During my first reading of Own the Wind, I wasn’t a fan of its story nor the characters. Tabby’s – the heroine of the story – shenanigans were so over the top that I just couldn’t take her seriously. This left me not able to connect to ..read more

I really, really didn’t want Breaking Badger by Shelly Laurenston to end! As the third book in The Honey Badgers Chronicles this was a very solid continuation.
I didn’t know what to expect with this installment. We’d already gotten the main MacKilligan sister’s stories. So to get Mads story was such a treat.
As soon as Max’s friends were introduced in Badger to the Bone I wanted to know more about them; not in any particular order mind you. I just wanted to know more back story as to how they all met.
At certain times Breaking Badger read more like a continuation of the OG MacKilligan storyli ..read more

The Fire Witch by Sasha Marshall is finally here!!!
Marshall has finally broken the paranormal romance/urban fantasy genre wall!!
Congrats!
Okay enough gushing, let’s get to this review because I have a lot of thoughts …
… The characters of The Fire Witch by Sasha Marshall
From the MCs (main characters) to their supporting characters there was nothing I found that overwhelming correction. I hate that word correction. I guess expansion would be a better word seeing as there were some characters I wanted more depth to; more substance.
Each character brought something to the story that was attra ..read more

A Good Day For Chardonnay by Darynda Jones was everything I was looking for from a continuation to A Bad Day For Sunshine.
The perfect amount of snark, mystery, and balanced character dynamics that I can’t wait to revisit this story in audio.
If you love Darynda Jones’ Charlie Davidson series you’ll love her Sunshine Vicram series!
Enough gushing, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of my thoughts on the story …
Is it a shocker that it wasn’t Sunshine’s character that drew me in for A Good Day For Chardonnay?
I can’t really put my finger on why she and I aren’t clicking but there’s just a disconn ..read more

Spells Trouble by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast is the first story in their new series, Sisters of Salem. Actually, Spells Trouble is the first story I’ve read by the Cast authors in a long time.
To be frank, I haven’t read anything from them since their clash with Laurell K. Hamilton back in the day.
The House of Night series that they penned together (both Cast’s) was my bread and butter in high school before I became obsessed with Twilight.
I couldn’t really tell you what caused the hiatus before the situation mentioned above happened. But, I thought it was high time I delved back into their ..read more
