Ipswich still in third after conceding late equaliser in 3-3 draw
Huddersfield all but relegated after draw with Birmingham
Omari Hutchinson scored twice but Hull came from behind three times to stop Ipswich moving into the Championship promotion places with a 3-3 draw at the MKM Stadium.
Ipswich started the day a solitary point behind Leeds having played two games less, knowing a victory would put them in healthy position to return to the Premier League, and George Hirst fired the visitors in front in the 19th minute to give them a perfect start ..read more

Clubs in the west hope partnerships with the Indian Super League can let them trade knowhow for fan engagement
A south Indian Idli Sambar mixed with Norfolk mustard was on the menu when Norwich City and Chennaiyin FC announced a strategic partnership last week. The Canaries are the latest European club to head to the subcontinent in search of fans, revenue and, eventually perhaps, talent. If India has overtaken China as the world’s most populous country, it is also increasingly seen as the place to be in football.
The big clubs are still active in China but operating there was far from simple ..read more

Longman scores Den winner, Southampton beat Coventry
Sheffield Wednesday snatch draw, Huddersfield thrashed
Leicester missed the chance to go four points clear at the top of the Championship after a 1-0 loss at Millwall. Ryan Longman’s brilliant top-corner finish was the difference for the Lions, who climbed into 17th. Leicester stayed one point clear at the summit after Leeds moved into second following a goalless draw against Sunderland.
The substitute Milutin Osmajic bagged a quickfire hat-trick as Preston completed an incredible second-half comeback to beat relegation-threatened Huddersf ..read more

The sweetest of derby wins may yet prove a mere appetiser. This was a triumphant afternoon for Norwich, who extended their hex over Ipswich to 15 years and fully deserved their extensive celebrations. They maintained a grip on the final playoff spot with an eighth straight home win and, in doing so, put a dent in their bitter rivals’ chances of automatic promotion. Ipswich had been top and flying before kick-off but were off the pace throughout and must hope the consequences of an uncharacteristically flat display are minimal.
While Leicester took advantage, Leeds’s defeat at Coventry kep ..read more

Leicester were forced to come from behind but ran out worthy winners as they returned to the Championship summit following their recent wobble
Read Sam Dalling’s match report from King Power Stadium
David Wagner: “It makes no sense to look on the table, or judge the table every match day because it can change with one game,” said Norwich’s manager after their win against Plymouth on Friday. “I think it makes total sense to focus on us and make sure we produce performances, like we’ve done in recent weeks, and make sure we fight and work as hard as we did against Plymouth.
“Then we have to ma ..read more

Check the result. Glance at the table. All is well at Leicester City, right? In some ways, perhaps even in the most important way, that is true. After all, victory against Norwich – achieved despite falling behind – kept the Championship title race within their control.
Driving Leicester’s comeback was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The theory that he is a level above second-tier football is long since proven. Still, in equalising before the break, and setting up Stephy Mavididi to put Leicester ahead after it, Dewsbury-Hall only further reinforced it ..read more

Webber: for some players it is ‘potentially jail or something else’
Raheem Sterling among the players Webber listed
Stuart Webber, the former Norwich sporting director, has been accused of “racial profiling” and “lazy stereotyping” after suggesting a group of black footballers he worked with might have ended up in jail had they not forged careers in the game.
In an interview with Norfolk local newspaper the Pink Un, Webber, who has also been the sporting director at Huddersfield and worked as head of recruitment at Liverpool, said: “We want to help the guys who really need it, not the ones w ..read more

Winger, who like Raheem Sterling grew up in Wembley, could be in the Premier League next season even if his club are not promoted
When Norwich last played Manchester City in the Premier League, in February 2022, Jonathan Rowe sought out Raheem Sterling in the tunnel. “I showed him where I was from, and it turned out we had a lot of ‘mutuals’,” Rowe says.
Like Sterling, Rowe grew up in the shadow of Wembley Stadium and he wanted to pay his respects to his neighbourhood’s most famous son. “He’s the person that everyone looks to as someone that made a way in my area,” Rowe says. “He’s set the wav ..read more

Other Championship clubs also understood to be interested
Carlos Cuesta joined Arsenal from Juventus in 2020
Arsenal are expecting to have to fend off interest in Mikel Arteta’s assistant Carlos Cuesta from Norwich and other Championship teams at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Juventus in 2020 and speaks six languages, is rated as one of the world’s best young coaches and could be tempted by an opportunity to take his first senior role after almost four years working under Arteta ..read more

George Elokobi inspires Maidstone while Tottenham’s forwards fail to fire in loss against Manchester City
Eight of the 20-man squad selected by Jürgen Klopp against Norwich were graduates of Liverpool’s academy. One of those, James McConnell, was making his first start for the senior team. The 19-year-old from Newcastle slotted in front of the defence, sitting behind Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch. While progressing through the academy, having joined aged 15 from Sunderland, McConnell was a more attacking midfielder and his eye for an assist could be seen when he saw Jones in space at the b ..read more
