By: Felix Duppong Unmesh Datta Disaster Response After dominating Friday and Saturday, Scuderia Ferrari experienced a day of great heartbreak. After taking a fantastic pole position yesterday, Charles Leclerc got a good start and held off Max Verstappen into Turn 1, disappearing in the distance. Once Max Verstappen lost control at Turn 4 and lost positions to George Russell and Sergio Pérez, it appeared that the day would end with another Grand Chelem for Leclerc. It turned into tragedy on Lap 27. Heartbreak for Charles ?#SpanishGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/QMDJehf043 — Formula 1 (@F1) May 22, 20 ..read more

By: Adil Muhammad Unmesh Datta Vincent van der Hoek Track Talk Spain has a rich Formula One history. Pedralbes hosted a couple of Spanish Grand Prix in the 50s, then Jarama and Montjuïc alternating in the mid-70s, until Jarama hosted five straight races until 1981. Five years later, Jerez de la Frontera hosted five more races before the freshly built Circuit de Catalunya took over hosting duties in 1991 and held the Spanish GP ever since. In the 2000s, the Barcelona track started receiving more attention as a test track, until it became the official test track for Formula One, a circuit F1 te ..read more

By: Unmesh Datta Vincent van der Hoek Colton Herta had a torrid GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis, but when the water spray cleared, he triumphed on a chaotic weather-affected race. The Andretti Autosport driver was finally able to get his first victory of the season after mistakes at Barber and Long Beach cost him good finishes. Simon Pagenaud finished in second place for Meyer Shank Racing, and Will Power claimed the last podium position for Team Penske. By: Ekagra Gupta Flip Jacobsen A new circuit, track temperatures over 50 degrees, and a combination of long straights and technical sectors that forced teams to compromise. The Miami Grand Prix was a highly anticipated stop in the Formula One calendar. Liberty Media has made it clear that it wants to have a much bigger presence in the USA market, and the Miami race is an important piece of that strategy. There was a bigger-than-usual presence of famous people, many of them not connected to motorsports, and the usual pageantry – with plenty of excesses in that regard, but when it was time for t ..read more

By: Adil Muhammad Unmesh Datta Mikey McGuire Flawless Execution Max Verstappen had a terrible build-up to his race ; only five laps in FP1, no running whatsoever in FP2, and 20 laps completed in FP3 (in which he had to squeeze both a qualifying AND race simulation). In qualifying, Verstappen finished in 3rd place, behind both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, a mistake in his final run ending his chances in that battle. Teammate Sergio Pérez managed more running and had competitive times in his race simulation, but it would be anyone’s guess what kind of pace Verstappen would have on Sunday. A ..read more

By: Adil Muhammad Felix Duppong Unmesh Datta Vincent van der Hoek Following a hot and dry Friday, the Miami racetrack again needed care overnight. Turns 7 and 17 were both resurfaced before Friday running, but the track at Turn 17 did not hold up after yesterday, so the turn was completely redone. This has led that part of the track being more slippery than yesterday, and it remains to be seen if the turn will cause more problems for drivers tomorrow in the race. The pit lane also modified, the entry kerbs removed in favour of simple bollards before the chicane. © Jared C. Tilton/Getty Image ..read more

By: Unmesh Datta Vincent van der Hoek For the second ever visit to Florida in F1’s history, a new track around the Hard Rock Stadium was built from scratch, with newly laid asphalt with no latent grip. Damage overnight meant that parts of the track had to be repaired with fresh asphalt before drivers could even have a taste, and those repairs meant there was even less grip for the drivers. © Peter Fox/Getty Images/Red Bull Media House El pitlane y limite de 80 kms empezará antes de la chicane de la entrada del pitlane. By: Mikey McGuire Vincent van der Hoek The month of May has begun, and that means the busiest time of the IndyCar season has arrived. Three races in the space of a month, coupled with multiple testing days, and the biggest race of the season to finish it off. Before the 2022 Indianapolis 500, however, the NTT IndyCar Series visited Birmingham, Alabama for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park. This venue has hosted the Series since 2010, only missing one race because of the pandemic in that time span. While Barber has never been one of the most spectacular races on t ..read more

By: Ekagra Gupta Flip Jacobsen After a dominant showing in Australia, Ferrari arrived in Imola hoping to give the Tifosi a party. After a difficult 2020 and an improving but yet not front-running 2021, the Imola grandstands were a sea of Ferrari red, but Red Bull spoiled that plan, a dominant weekend by the Milton Keynes squad making the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships much closer as Formula One prepares to cross the Atlantic for the first time in 2022. How did it all go so wrong for Ferrari, and what did Red Bull bring that enabled it to dominate the entire weekend? The data can hel ..read more

By: Michael McClure Max Verstappen took his second win of the 2022 Formula One season at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and reset his championship challenge. Following his retirement at the Australian Grand Prix, Verstappen had a flawless Sunday, scored his second career grand slam, and led home Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez for a 1–2 finish, the team’s first since the 2016 Malaysian GP. On a day that promised much for home team Ferrari – and with Charles Leclerc starting second and Carlos Sainz fourth – there was ultimately little in the way of results. Sainz’s race ended in the gravel afte ..read more
