How to Catch Lingcod
Global Fishing Reports
by Captain Cody Wabiszewski

Lingcod are massive fish that are frequently caught while halibut fishing. This is because the fishing tactics and location are very similar for both types of fish. Lingcod looks like a cross between the eel-like fish called a ling and a pacific cod. This is likely how it got its name however it is actually not in the ling or cod family. This article will talk about the different types of cod as many people confuse lingcod with pacific cod or Alaskan pollock which are frequently used for fish sandwiches. I have caught lots of lingcod in Alaska when fishing for halibut and salmon. The large on ..read more

Alligators and crocodiles both live in Florida. Crocodiles live in both saltwater and freshwater while alligators live in freshwater. There are an estimated 1.25 million alligators that live in Florida. That is way more than the estimated 2,000 crocodiles that live in south Florida. Most of these crocodiles live in the everglades or in the Florida Keys. American crocodiles came off the endangered species list in 2007 but they are still very much protected. Their numbers are growing in Florida and sightings are becoming more and more common in the Florida Keys. Many people are unaware that cro ..read more

Global Fishing Reports
by Captain Cody Wabiszewski

When fishing in freshwater most sportfishing is done with artificial lures. This is not necessarily because artificial lures are the best bait to be using. In many cases using live bait or fresh bait will out fish artificial lures. Most freshwater anglers know that worms will catch a larger variety of fishing including bass, perch, walleye, crappie, and catfish. Image Source: Wikimedia Commons. In freshwater, I like to use Alewife for hybrid striped bass, creek chubs for bass, fathead Minnows for perch, crappie, and walleye. Worms, creature baits, frogs, and crayfish also work great in freshw ..read more

7 Alaska River Fishing Locations to Catch Salmon
Global Fishing Reports
by Captain Cody Wabiszewski

There are many great places to fish for salmon in Alaska. Fishing in rivers and streams can be done from the bank, in the water with waders, or from a drift boat. Millions of salmon spawn each year in Alaska but not everyone knows where the best fishing spots are located. Some streams are heavily fished due to easy road access and large numbers of fish. The further you are willing to travel via hiking, float plane, or boat the fewer anglers there will likely be on the river. Some streams I have fished have no other people fishing at all. Other times in peak season you are going to have to dea ..read more
