What My C-Section Taught Me About Motherhood
Lansing Mom
by Chelsea Fristoe

“The days are long, but the years are short.” “Sleep when the baby sleeps.” “Change is the only constant.” “Expect the unexpected.” If there’s one cliché piece of advice that truly sums up my experience with motherhood so far, it’s that last one – to expect the unexpected. For me, this lesson started from the second we started trying to conceive our first child, got a little louder during pregnancy, and was shouted from the rooftops during my birth. We did all the “right” things leading up to birth. Bought the gear, did the research, took the classes. We studied, we made spreadsheets and lis ..read more

Things To Ditch This Earth Day
Lansing Mom

The last few weeks have taught me that all those economic lessons on supply and demand through the years was a real thing, and that if your demand is so high that your supply can’t keep up, you’re going to have a shortage. The shortage of items has really pushed me into making some changes around our home that are more environmentally friendly. I can’t even find paper towels anywhere so I ditched them, like I’ve been meaning to, along with a few other items that I just don’t need. The bonus? These changes are greener and healthier for my family.  Lansing Mom is here to share our tried and ..read more

How to be a Good Friend During a Divorce
Lansing Mom
by Jessica Walter
1w ago
My husband and I got married in our early 30’s but had been dating for 10 years. This means we went to a lot of weddings before ours. I even remember thinking we would never get there. Luckily we made it and our time came, but what happened after our wedding definitely threw us for a loop. You see, many of the friends that were married before us were entering another chapter of their life: divorce. Most were in their thirties and had been married for several years with kids. We never saw these divorces coming and, unfortunately, got caught in the middle of quite a few. When you are friends wit ..read more

Lansing Mom

10 years ago, I quit tampons cold turkey. At the time, I didn’t know what my options were, but I definitely wasn’t interested in using them anymore. Truth be told, I am an overly anxious person about what I use consistently for my body. Is the occasional cheeseburger going to kill me? No, probably not, but would I eat them consistently? Also, probably not. And that’s how I felt about tampons– used once in a while is fine, but did I feel comfortable consistently putting them in my body? No, I didn’t. So I ditched tampons and I’m here to hopefully convince you that, if you’ve been thinking about ..read more

Get Organized: 6 Week Decluttering Challenge
Lansing Mom
by Jessica Kirsch
3w ago
When is the last time you had a great decluttering session? Clutter can lead to stress and drain us of our time and money. How? Because we spend extra time looking for lost things, keys, shoes, tools, etc. Then, we end up replacing lost items and buying duplicates of things we already have. Not having our financial papers organized can lead to bills being lost, resulting in late fees. Why not start decluttering and get organized over the next six weeks? It’s not going to happen overnight, it’s going to be a journey. You’ll free up space in your home and organize items so you always know where ..read more
