There wasn’t much to like in the Hawks‘ 116-110 opening-night loss to the Hornets. The offense never clicked as Trae Young and Dejounte Murray struggled mightily. Atlanta’s backcourt combined to shoot 7-of-33 on Wednesday night. Young only connected on one three-point shot, which came at the end of the game. Following the Eastern Conference Finals run in which Nate McMillan took over midseason, fans had optimism they had the right coach in the building. The Hawks had a couple of players set to hit restricted free agency at the end of the upcoming season. The deadline to reach an extension with those players was today. Landry Fields and Kyle Korver were able to get one deal done, extending Onyeka Okongwu to a very team-friendly four-year, $62 million contract.
