According to reports, the Hawks are monitoring the potential availability of Pascal Siakam after pursuing a trade for much of the offseason with the Raptors. A deal never came to fruition for one reason or the other, though many speculated that it was Toronot’s ridiculously high asking price. However, that hasn’t stopped Atlanta’s management from inquiring. The report came from Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, who also included De’Andre Hunter in the piece as a top trade candidate. “Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter was among the players discussed during the Siakam talks, and his $20 million salary a ..read more

The Raptors have reportedly been very tough to deal with in negotiations, and they ended up holding onto Siakam rather than dealing him at all. However, that might change at s ..read more

The Hawks are off to a 5-3 start after a nail biter in Mexico City against the Magic. Trae Young had 33 points in the first half and finished with 41. He also fed Dejounte Murray for a go-ahead three-pointer with 30 seconds left to give Atlanta a 120-119 victory over Orlando. Jalen Suggs led the Magic with 21 points followed by Paolo Banchero, who had 17 and missed a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds. Jalen Johnson continued his impressive stretch of play, adding 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting to go with nine rebounds. Murray added 16, and Bogdan Bogdanovic came off the bench with ..read more

The 76ers made a blockbuster trade about a week into the NBA season, sending James Harden to the Clippers in exchange for a bevy of role players. The Hawks were involved in multiple trade rumors this offseason, but nothing came to fruition. Most notably, Atlanta was linked to Toronto’s Pascal Siakam, but the Raptors proved too difficult to work with to get a deal done. There were also rumors connecting the Mavericks to Clint Capela, who is inevitably going to be moved to make way for Onyeka Okongwu. The writing is on the wall for Capela after Okongwu signed a team-friendly, four-year extension ..read more

NFL insider hints Falcons still in market for pass rusher

The Falcons made their second trade prior to the deadline today, acquiring defensive lineman Kentavius Street from the Eagles. Atlanta probably needed defensive line depth regardless, but the move became even more necessary after it was announced that Grady Jarrett would miss the rest of season with a torn ACL. However, it’s going to take a lot more than that to replace the loss of Jarrett, and the Falcons don’t appear to be done before tomorrow’s 4:00 PM ET trade deadline. According to Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, Terry Fontenot and company continue to make calls in attempt of acquiring ..read more

Braves Ron Washington interested in Astros managerial opening

As I wrote about last week, the Braves have several coaches that could be interviewed for current managerial openings. Perhaps the most notable is 71-year-old Ron Washington, who reportedly is interested in the Astros job. He also played briefly for the Astros (1989). Its not known if the Astros have mutual interest, but Washington and Astros general manager Dana Brown were, of course, both working for Atlanta Braves at same time. (2/2) — Jason Bristol (@JBristolKHOU) October 30, 2023 Washington’s interest should come as no surprise. He’s been considered for several managerial openings over ..read more

The lone bright spot in Hawks opening night loss

There wasn’t much to like in the Hawks‘ 116-110 opening-night loss to the Hornets. The offense never clicked as Trae Young and Dejounte Murray struggled mightily. Atlanta’s backcourt combined to shoot 7-of-33 on Wednesday night. Young only connected on one three-point shot, which came at the end of the game. He wasn’t getting into the paint and couldn’t get his patented floater going at all. Murray’s struggles were even more pronounced. The former All-Star finished with 11 points and six assists while providing a fraction of the impact he’s capable of giving. They weren’t the only ones, though ..read more

What are reasonable expectations for Quin Snyder’s Hawks?

Hawks fans have had similar feelings in each of the last three seasons. Following the Eastern Conference Finals run in which Nate McMillan took over midseason, fans had optimism they had the right coach in the building. McMillan took over for Lloyd Pierce and led Atlanta within a couple of games of the Finals. The 2021-22 campaign didn’t net better results, but Hawks fans’ hopes were resurrected when the club swung a deal to acquire Dejounte Murray from the Spurs, giving Trae Young the first All-Star teammate of his career. The excitement around Atlanta was palpable. The 2022-23 campaign may h ..read more

The Athletic is low on Atlanta Hawks in NBA Power Rankings

Since reaching the Eastern Conference Finals a few years ago, the Hawks have been nothing more than a play-in team, even if the talent on the roster would suggest otherwise. There’s something different in the air in Atlanta entering the 2023-24 campaign, though. Much of that has to do with Quin Snyder, who takes over for Nate McMillan in his first full season at the helm. Personnel-wise, the most noticeable difference between this team and last year’s extraordinarily mediocre one is the absence of John Collins. Atlanta did acquire Patty Mills, Wesley Matthews, and Kobe Bufkin this offseason, b ..read more

Hawks do not reach extension with Saddiq Bey

The Hawks had a couple of players set to hit restricted free agency at the end of the upcoming season. The deadline to reach an extension with those players was today. Landry Fields and Kyle Korver were able to get one deal done, extending Onyeka Okongwu to a very team-friendly four-year, $62 million contract. That’s a bargain for a player that looks to be the Hawks center of the future. However, Fields and Korver were not able to reach an extension with Saddiq Bey, who will test free agency next offseason. No rookie contract extensions for Atlanta’s Saddiq Bey, New York’s Immanuel Quickley ..read more
