Wisconsin football officially has their bowl game, and based on how this season went a New Year’s Day game against an SEC opponent sounds impossible.
That, however, is exactly what the Badgers have in front of them as they take on No. 13 LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. CT. LSU finished the season 9-3 and Wisconsin ended the year 7-5.
The game will be held in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Buccaneers.
By making a bowl game this season, Wisconsin keeps their now 22-year-old bowl streak alive. That streak is the third-longest in the nation.

The Athletic’s college football bowl projections finally reached completion after the Big Ten and ACC Championships concluded last night. The service predicts No. 1 Michigan vs. No. 4 Florida State in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal, and No. 2 Washington vs. No. 3 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl CFP Semifinal.
We aren’t here to litigate whether Texas, Alabama or Florida State should be left out of the playoff. We’re here to pass along that The Athletic has Wisconsin facing SEC power LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl, formerly known as the Outback Bowl, in Tampa, Florida on January 1, 2024 ..read more

The Indiana Hoosiers made a few splashes in the last few weeks, firing longtime head coach Tom Allen after a disastrous 3-9 season. It then hired one of the hotter coaching names on the market: former James Madison head coach Curt Cignetti.
Cignetti had the Dukes at 11-1 this season after an 8-3 2022 campaign. He is no Jonathan Smith (former Oregon State coach, now at Michigan State), but the college football world agrees he did a terrific job at James Madison.
One piece of Cignetti taking over at Indiana is how he’ll handle the staff around him. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported there is one as ..read more

A Wisconsin basketball season that started rocky has begun to get rolling. The Badgers used a tremendous first half from Max Klesmit and physicality on the glass and defensive end to down No. 3 Marquette 75-64.
The Kohl Center sellout crowd certainly made a difference, as they were engaged from the opening tip. Klesmit led the way with a monster first half and finished with 21 points to lead all scorers. He knocked down five of his ten three-point attempts on the afternoon.
Despite a 9-0 Marquette spurt to begin the second half, the Badgers regained their composure and closed it out on the def ..read more

Wisconsin basketball defeated No. 3 Marquette 75-64 earlier today, improving to 6-2 on the season and bolstering its resume before Big Ten play begins.
The win is big for many reasons. Wisconsin maintains control of the I-94 rivalry, the Badgers gained more momentum entering conference play and early-season losses against Tennessee and Providence are looking more and more irrelevant.
Also, important, it’s Wisconsin’s third consecutive win over its in-state rival. The Badgers won 89-76 in 2021, 80-77 in 2022 and now 75-64 in 2023. It is the program’s first three-game win streak over the Golden ..read more

I don’t know what the weather was like in Madison, Wisconsin today. But as FOX so aptly pointed out, there was a storm around 1:35 p.m.
That occurred after the Badgers defeated in-state rival No. 3 Marquette 75-64. Wisconsin fans got to storm the court for, I believe, the first time since the epic win against No. 8 Purdue two years ago.
The win was massive for Greg Gard’s team, improving its record to 6-2 and continuing a hot streak that began with a blowout win against Virginia in the Fort Myers Tip-Off.
The Badgers led the contest wire-to-wire. Max Klesmit led the way with a 21-point first h ..read more

Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell seems to be committed to recruiting the state of Ohio, and the city of Cincinnati specifically. His tenure at Cincinnati ended in 2022 when he took the Wisconsin job. But his recruiting ties to the city and the state figure to stay strong moving into the future.
There might be a recent hint at that being the case. Wisconsin made the top eight schools for four-star class of 2025 athlete Jaimier Scott.
Scott is 247Sports’ No. 323 player in the class of 2025, No. 19 athlete and No. 12 recruit from his home state of Ohio. He is from the city of Cincinnati and play ..read more

Former Wisconsin quarterback and tight end Sean Lewis was named the head coach at San Diego State earlier this week.
The former Badger had spent the year at Colorado with Deion Sanders, that after a highly-successful run at Kent State from 2018-2022.
Lewis played at Wisconsin from 2005-2007. ESPN says he recorded one career catch for seven yards. He joined the program in the class of 2004 as a three-star pro-style quarterback.
Lewis is now viewed as one of the up-and-coming coaches in the sport and one of the brightest offensive minds. It is widely accepted that Kent State is one of the worst ..read more

Wisconsin added three-star linebacker Cooper Catalano to its class of 2025 earlier this week. He is the program’s fourth commitment in the class, joining three-star OT Michael Roeske, three-star safety Remington Moss and three-star quarterback Landyn Locke.
The Germantown, Wisconsin native is ranked as the No. 531 player in the class of 2025, the No. 52 linebacker and the No. 6 recruit from his home state.
He is, at the moment, Wisconsin’s highest-ranked 2025 commit.
While the 2024 cycle is still yet to finish, it’s worth noting Luke Fickell’s early progress in the 2025 cycle.

News broke earlier this week that Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen was opting out of the remainder of the season and declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.
The decision comes as a surprise to nobody, as the young running back appeared after Wisconsin’s 28-14 win over Minnesota as if the game was his last. Given his established talent, carry load and average career length at the position, it is a decision that should’ve been expected.
Allen finishes his Wisconsin career with 3494 yards, 5.9 yards per carry and 35 touchdowns. He played through injuries for the large part of three seasons, consist ..read more
